Role Purpose
Global Payments Solution (GPS) is an integral part of our client proposition and leverages our global network to capture market share and deliver growth. As a part of Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB), GPS helps corporate and institutional clients manage their payables, receivables and liquidity effectively globally. The Country Head of GPS is responsible for executing GPS’s global strategy in South Korea, through proactively leading and driving business growth, managing risk and positioning HSBC as the top cash management provider and thought leader in the market.
Principal Accountabilities
Impact on Business
- Lead the execution of GPS global strategy in the country to ensure a consistent delivery of world-class level of solutions and services to clients
- Build the franchise value and reputation of GPS in South Korea and across global and regional corridors
- Drive and deliver revenue and profit growth, achieving targets while building a sustainable business model balancing growth and risk management
- Manage the development and implementation of the business strategy and overseas resource and budget management
- Drive the delivery of a comprehensive and competitive suite of payments solutions, delivered through a range of delivery channels by executing a commercially focused product management strategy, which aligns with the propositional requirements of the Customer Groups
- Lead the development and execution of a high-quality client-centric service culture that delivers superior post-sales support to CIB clients across the range of GPS products in the country
- Position HSBC as the top provider of payments service in the country by developing an appropriate marketing strategy to ensure that HSBC is ranked number one in all significant cash management surveys across the country
Customers / Stakeholders
- Deepen customer relationships through championing business co-operation across the HSBC enterprise and ensure strong networks with key external stakeholders such as regulatory bodies, Fintechs, IT vendors etc
- Understand current economic trends and their impact on HSBC and identify key levers to capitalize on opportunities or minimize downside exposure
Leadership & Teamwork
- Develop and communicate a clear vision for the GPS business that is aligned to the overall HSBC vision, values and goals. Inspire and engage people to create and inclusive, high performing and customer-oriented culture
- Drive high-performance through effective people management activities and strengthen employee engagement by taking action against agreed priorities in identified action plans
Operational Effectiveness & Control
- Lead the continuing development, implementation and improvement of the processes, capabilities, capacity and infrastructure required to deliver agreed plans and targets, collaborating with colleagues to maximize end to end integration, effectiveness, and efficiency
- Establish and maintain a robust risk and control environment across GPS to ensure good operational, financial and project management which meets changing regulatory requirements and in compliance with HSBC’s policies and procedures, including early identification and effective resolution/escalation for issues
- Continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings and the impact of new technology
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of the GPS business with a broad understanding of commercial banking and relationship management experience.
- Ability to lead and drive the business at pace in a dynamic environment with an established track record of business growth success
- Strong business acumen and commercial awareness to navigate the fast-changing economic, client and regulatory environment, balancing risk and return
- Strong judgmental skills to identify and resolve problems whilst maintaining budgets, timescales and quality of output
- Deep market knowledge to lead the digital change process for clients and an ability to appreciate the application of technology, product lifecycle management in relation to transaction banking
- Strong risk awareness and extensive experience in the operational side of transaction banking
- Highly developed management skills, with experience in leading teams and working in a matrix organization
- Ability to communicate, influence and build strong working relationships at all levels both within the C-suite of client organizations and HSBC global network
- Ability to lead and motivate other managers and staff, employing appropriate management styles
- Experience of managing resources to achieve objectives using appropriate communication delegation and planning skills
