Job Description

Every Argos store, hub and operations site depends on facilities that work, and they need to work all the time. As our Head of Facilities Management, Operations and Systems, you'll own the strategy that makes that happen.

You'll plan, shape and improve how Facilities Management services are delivered across our operations locations. That covers equipment, fabric and services, all maintained to industry-leading standards. You'll manage our external managing agent (and shape whatever model comes next), so we get real value for money and protect the performance and reputation of our brand.

This is a chance to bring the latest technology and ideas from the FM industry into a national retail business. You'll report to the Director of Property and work with senior leaders across Argos. The service you design will have a direct impact on colleagues and customers every day.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing and delivering the revenue and capital budgets for Facilities Management, finding savings without compromising quality or service
  • Setting the strategic direction for how Facilities services are structured and delivered, using the latest technology and industry efficiencies
  • Managing and developing our relationship with the external managing agent, so the service always meets Argos' strategic needs
  • Making sure service level agreements meet the needs of the business, and driving performance against targets
  • Leading, coaching and developing the Facilities Management leadership team to deliver strong results
  • Building trusted relationships with senior colleagues so you understand, plan for and meet their needs
  • Creating strategies to manage the lifecycle of our assets, from both a financial and an engineering perspective
  • Using our biannual retail customer satisfaction surveys to understand how we're performing and spot opportunities to improve, while building knowledge of FM across the retail network

What experience you'll bring (essential skills)

  • Experience selecting and managing outsourced service providers across a multi-site environment
  • Extensive experience of contract and supplier negotiation and management, including developing and managing KPIs
  • Senior-level Facilities Management experience in a complex, multi-site environment, delivering high-quality service within strict budgets
  • A track record of building and leading a high-performing team
  • The ability to set and deliver a strategic vision
  • Strong client liaison and service delivery experience
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to work across the whole business
  • The confidence to present, influence and operate at Board level

It would be great (but isn't essential) if you also have: knowledge of food retail organisations and the services they need, and degree-level education.
