Department Overview

Finance & Accounting Division is composed of seven departments: Finance, Tax, Controller, Group Accounting, IR, Finance & Accounting Strategy, and Rakuten Symphony Finance & Accounting Management. Its mission is to oversee all finance and accounting functions across the entire Rakuten Group.

Another key mission is to establish and maintain robust global finance and accounting governance by dispatching finance and accounting leaders to our regional headquarters and key subsidiaries overseas.

Why We Hire
We are looking for a strategic finance leader to drive the launch and expansion of our new business in China. Reporting directly to the CEO of our China subsidiary, you will oversee all financial and accounting operations. Additionally, as a key member of Financial and Accounting Division at our headquarters, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of our global business from a financial perspective.

- Serve as the CFO or Head of Finance for our Shanghai-based subsidiary, providing financial leadership and operational oversight.
- As an integral member of Financial and Accounting Division at HQ, contribute to global growth strategies through financial planning, analysis, and accounting excellence.

Appeal

- As a Finance Lead, you will have significant autonomy to drive the launch of our overseas business.
- Simultaneously, as a key member of the Finance and Accounting Division, you will oversee financial governance across the entire group.

Position Details

Key Responsibilities
As CFO or Head of Finance/Accounting for the Chinese subsidiary:
- Establishment of end-to-end financial and accounting processes for the Chinese subsidiary.
- Development of governance frameworks for financial and accounting operations.
- Comprehensive management accounting, including budget planning and variance analysis (FP&A).
- Strategic support for the expansion of the e-commerce business in the overseas market.

Work Environment

Background of Mid-Career Hires
- Experience in finance and accounting at listed companies.
- Subject matter experts in accounting and tax.
- Professionals with a background in consulting.

Career Path Examples of Successful Hires
- CFO of overseas subsidiaries or regional headquarters after gaining experience across multiple departments.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Experience in doing business in China and a certain level of knowledge of local business practices.
- Management for financial accounting including monthly and quarterly financial results.
- Negotiate with business representatives, legal affairs, and other specialized departments on behalf of accounting.
- IFRS and tax expertise.
- DX experience, or willingness to challenge

Desired Qualifications:

- Deep expertise in the Chinese e-commerce market.
- Ability to communicate in Chinese.
- Proven experience in managing a team of 10+ employees.

*This position is expected to involve working in China on a business trip basis.

TOEIC Score exceeding 800 (or similar level of English ability) or a University Degree earned in an English-speaking country.
