South Coast Nursing Homes is an established and successful, family owned and managed, care home company based in Worthing, West Sussex.
We currently operate 9 homes across East and West Sussex. We have 414 beds having recently opened a brand-new Home in Central Worthing, named The Poets. Each registered home offers the highest standards of resident care and comfort, 24 hours – day and night, for long and short-term stays
This is a brand new and exciting opportunity arising due to the retirement of our current company Finance Director. The position reports directly into the Managing Director and is responsible for all financial systems and processes for SCNH, ensuring any risks are identified and mitigated.
This role is also about financial planning, budgeting, report writing and providing strategic and commercial insight for the Board of Directors. This will assist with effective, high-quality decision-making that represents both value for money and is within the values upheld by SCNH.
Being a relatively small team of four the role will require a hands-on approach to managing the department – a training and nurturing style will be necessary to develop others in their roles. You will be accountable for payroll; purchase ledger; sales ledger; credit control and all management accounting. The business spans across East and West Sussex and includes other properties owned by the company, so you should be familiar with a group structure and multi-site operations.
You must be a qualified accountant, with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience and be familiar with the core financial software packages, and possess good to advanced Excel skills (with the ability to produce effective financial reports for the Board of Directors.
You will work closely with the Directors in providing financial insight, counsel and trend analysis – offering solutions to issues being suggested by various trends identified through the data. To provide management information for the Directors when formulating business plans and decisions - new systems; annual pay review new processes.
Skills, qualifications, and knowledge
Essential:
• A qualified accountant – CIMA / ACA / ACCA
• Recent and relevant operational and strategic financial management experience at a senior level with a minimum of 5 years PQE
• At least 5 years proven experience managing individuals including setting and monitoring of goals and objectives
• Experience in setting and updating financial controls and reviewing processes and procedures, and developing financial systems
• Experience of preparing and presenting financial accounts and information at SLT and Board level with the ability to relay complex financial information to all levels of understanding within the organisation when required
• Experience of budgeting and forecasting and both operational and strategic level.
• Strong communicator / relationship building skills to engage and gain trust across other departments within SCNH.
• An ability to identify opportunities for innovation – keep our business moving forwards; sustainability; cost saving; efficiency.
