Scope:

The Asia-Pacific (APAC) region for CooperVision consists of the country markets of Japan, South Korea, Australia & NZ, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia as well as Asia Distributor markets, including Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam.

The Head of Finance, Taiwan is accountable for the overall financial stewardship of the Taiwan business, overseeing a USD 26–30 million operation within CooperVision APAC. The role operates in a matrix structure and partners closely with the Taiwan General Manager and regional APAC Finance and FP&A teams.

The position has broad interaction across local functions and external stakeholders, including auditors, tax authorities, and professional service providers, with direct impact on financial performance, compliance, internal controls, and cash flow management.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

The Head of Finance’s main deliverables are:

  1. Partner with the Country General Manager and Taiwan Leadership Team to support the development and execution of commercial strategy, including pricing, margin improvement, and investment prioritization.
  2. Provide financial analysis and insights to support evaluation of key business initiatives, including new product launches, promotions, and marketing investments.
  3. Drive the preparation and analysis of business performance, including delivery of Monthly and Quarterly Business Reviews, clearly articulating key trends, risks, and opportunities to drive decision-making.
  4. Drive working capital management, including DSO optimization, in partnership with commercial leaders, with ongoing identification of risks and opportunities.
  5. Provide clear and actionable financial insights to support decision-making across the business.
  6. Drive the utilization of Business Intelligence (BI) tools for deeper analytics and improved decision support.
  7. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making on key investments, portfolio optimization, and market initiatives.
  8. Monitor and manage financial performance against budget and forecast, including revenue, profitability, cost control, and cash flow metrics.
  9. Support and contribute to S&OP processes to improve forecast accuracy and business alignment.
  10. Support the Long-Range Planning (LRP), budgeting, and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with business strategy and financial targets.
  11. Ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting for Taiwan is submitted on time including financial performance and KPIs, and in full compliance with US GAAP;
  12. Ensure compliance of all local regulations, taxation, audit and statutory reporting. Liaise with all government departments and others as required;
  13. Represent the critical nature of the internal controls environment with the Taiwan leadership team and wider Taiwan business. Ensure Taiwan upholds the effectiveness and compliance of internal controls. Work to continuously improve the internal control environment;
  14. Coordinate with the Regional Teams and external auditors for preparation of the requisite audited financial statements.
  15. Build strong working relationships with all department heads.
  16. Provide technical financial advice and guidance to all the functions.
  17. Drive continuous improvement in finance processes, systems, and reporting, including enhancements in data analytics and business intelligence to improve efficiency and decision support.
  18. Lead and develop the local finance team, including coaching, performance management, and capability development.
  19. Acts as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and influences cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  20. Any other ad hoc projects or initiatives that may be required.

  8. Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects or initiatives simultaneously would also be helpful.
  9. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, both external and internal (at all levels of the organization) and efficiently at all levels of the organization, create interdepartmental links based on different projects with a respective level of integrity.
  10. Accuracy and attention to detail.

Work Environment:

  • This role is based in Taipei in a standard commercial office environment / setting.
  • Virtual team collaboration between country and regional colleagues, through use of Teams and company instant messaging platform.
  • Prepared to work extended hours on occasion.

Experience:

  • 8-12 years of progressive finance experience, including leadership experience in financial controlling, FP&A, or commercial finance roles within multinational organizations.
    • Experienced working in a U.S multi-national in a dynamic and competitive marketplace would be an advantage.
    • Comfortable working within a matrix-management-style organization.
    • Demonstrates working in a highly collaborative organization with a “roll-up your sleeves” working attitude.
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with regional finance teams, commercial stakeholders, and external partners.
    • Applies sound judgment in financial and business matters, contributing to key decisions and overall business performance.
    • Excellent in written and spoken English.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced university degree in business, finance or accounting with demonstrable professional experience in a commercial environment.
    • CPA, CA or ACCA professional qualification would be an advantage.
