Key Responsibilities
Compliance & Regulatory
- Ensure full compliance with GST, TDS, income tax, and ROC filing obligations
- Manage statutory audits, conduct internal audits, and liaise with CA firms
- Uphold the company’s compliance standards
- Strictly enforce zero tolerance for any compliance violations
GST & Taxation
- Oversee the preparation and submission of monthly GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B), carry out reconciliations, and handle ITC claims
- Manage GST audits, respond to notices, and address inquiries from departments
- Advise on tax structuring for new products, markets, or business models
Treasury & Cash Flow
- Handle banking relationships, credit facilities, and working capital needs
- Maintain ongoing cash flow forecasts and proactively identify potential risks
Financial Controls & Risk Management
- Design and enforce strong internal controls to guarantee accuracy, transparency, and accountability
- Identify financial and compliance risks early and develop mitigation plans
- Continuously monitor financial processes to avoid errors, leakages, or non-compliance
Treasury & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure all banking, payment, and cash flow activities comply with regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate documentation and approval workflows for all financial transactions
Team Leadership
- Build and lead the finance and accounts team
- Coach junior finance staff and promote a culture of accuracy and accountability
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of progressive experience in finance, with extensive exposure to compliance and regulatory frameworks
- In-depth understanding of Indian tax laws, including GST, TDS, and Income Tax Act, with proven experience in managing audits and notices independently
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, risk management, and audit processes
- Ability to confidently present financial data to founders, boards, or investors
- Demonstrate assertiveness and readiness to challenge unsupported assumptions
- Work efficiently while maintaining high accuracy
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Company Secretary (CS)
- CPA, CFA, or MBA in Finance from a recognized institution is preferred
- Experience in startups, D2C brands, or fast-growing SMEs is highly desirable
