Job Description

The Head of Executive Communications, People Organisation leads communications strategy and execution for Nokia’s global People organisation. This role sits at the intersection of business transformation and human story.

The role operates within Nokia’s functional GMC model reporting to the VP, Corporate Communications & Executive Messaging. The role holder works within Nokia’s functional communications model, orchestrating resources from internal communications, media relations, brand, content and external agency teams to deliver integrated, high-quality communications against the People organisation’s strategic plan.

Critically, this is not a delivery-only role. The Head of Executive Communications Communications for CPO organisation brings a communications lens to the People organisation’s strategy. The role demands both strategic leadership and a willingness to operate hands-on, setting direction and ensuring delivery against the plan.

This role serves as the primary communications partner to the Chief People Officer, providing strategic counsel on positioning, reputation, change leadership and stakeholder engagement. This requires a strong understanding of organisational transformation, communications expertise across both internal and external channels, and the ability to build trusted partnerships at the most senior levels. The CPO is a visible external voice on the future of work, talent, culture and leadership and this role is the engine behind that presence.

Given the pace and scale of change Nokia is navigating this role requires someone who is both a strategist and a practitioner, comfortable with change communications and capable of sustaining trust with employees at every level of the organisation.

  • Develop and own the integrated communications strategy for the People organisation, aligned to business priorities and Nokia's overall narrative.
  • Build and maintain a forward-looking communications strategy that anticipates key milestones, programme launches and change moments, translating complex organisational developments into clear, compelling narratives for internal and external audiences.
  • Serve as the dedicated communications partner and strategic communications sparring partner to the CPO, providing senior counsel on positioning, messaging, change leadership and external reputation.
  • Develop executive content across speeches, keynotes, op-eds, posts and internal comms.
  • Prepare the CPO for high-profile engagements including media interviews, industry forums and all-hands addresses, ensuring their voice is consistent and positions Nokia as a leader in the future of work.
  • Lead the communications workstream for major People-led transformation programmes, developing frameworks that sustain employee trust and engagement.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to the CPO and People leadership team on the communications implications of key programs and how they fit into the overall Nokia narrative.
  • Ensure Nokia's People narrative is consistently represented across channels, partnering with other team in GMC's to ensure full alignment with the Nokia narrative.
  • Operate within Nokia's functional GMC model, drawing on internal communications, media relations, content and agency resources to deliver the plan, setting clear briefs, priorities and quality standards, and willing to work hands-on where needed.
  • Lead communications response to sensitive or fast-moving issues affecting Nokia's people, culture or employer reputation, maintaining preparedness across and working in close partnership with Legal, Finance and GMC teams.

You must have:

  • Extensive senior communications experience, with a strong track record in transformational and change communications within a large, complex or global organisation.

  • Proven ability to develop and execute integrated communications strategies spanning internal, executive and external channels.

  • Significant experience as a senior communications partner to C-suite leaders, with the ability to act as a strategic sparring partner, challenging, advising and developing thinking, not just executing.

  • A deep understanding of how communications can enable and accelerate large-scale organisational transformation, sustaining trust and engagement through periods of significant change.

  • Strong executive communications and content skills, with the ability to write compellingly across formats, from employee messages to speeches and external op-eds.

  • A confident and proactive approach to AI: using AI to enhance research and accelerate content development, synthesise inputs and increase the overall quality and pace of communications work.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills across a range of formats and audiences.

  • The ability to operate as a senior individual contributor with strong strategic instinct and the ability to connect communications decisions to business context and reputational considerations.

  • High personal discretion, sound judgement and the ability to work effectively under pressure and at pace.

It would be advantageous if you also had:

  • Experience in the technology, telecoms or B2B technology sector.

  • Specific experience communicating around workforce transformation, including large-scale transformation and change programmes, cultural change or talent strategy shifts.

  • Background in operating within a matrixed, functional communications model.

  • Familiarity with employer brand, talent attraction communications or employee experience platforms.

  • Experience using AI tools to build content repositories, accelerate drafting workflows or support real-time communications planning.
