The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Lead the engineering function of a growing technology company, setting technical direction and architecture across the core platform and its supporting systems. Build and expand the engineering team, establish standards for code quality and reliability, and stay hands-on enough to earn the confidence of the people you lead. Work alongside executive and product leaders on roadmap decisions and the hardest technical and scaling challenges.

What you'll do

• Set technical direction and architecture across the platform's core systems.
• Recruit, hire and develop an engineering team as the organization grows.
• Define engineering standards covering fundamentals, code quality, reliability and modern AI-assisted development.
• Partner with executive and product leaders on roadmap choices and complex technical and scaling problems.
• Stay close to the code to set the technical bar and guide implementation.

Requirements

What we're looking for

• 4 to 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proven skill across both low-level systems work and user-facing product engineering.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals combined with fluency in AI-driven development.
• Track record of growing engineering teams and lifting quality expectations within them.
• Ability to set technical direction for a complex platform while remaining hands-on.
• Comfort with startup intensity and ownership of broad, ambiguous technical problems.
• Background from the first engineering hires at a fast-moving technology company.
• A strong computer science or engineering background.

• An existing presence in San Francisco.

• Base salary: $350,000 to $500,000
