Job Description

Company Description

Our client is Bangladesh's leading AI-enabled learning platform. More than four million registered learners across all 64 districts use it, and they build Bangla-first, curriculum-aligned education products for a country of 42 million students - and increasingly, the infrastructure that public education itself will run on. They are backed by Learn Capital, Wavemaker Partners, Anchorless Bangladesh amongst other notable international VCs and local Bangladeshi firms.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the team and the platform through the next phase of that shift. You will inherit a mature system serving millions of users, and an engineering organization that already builds with AI as a first-class tool. Your job is to raise the standard of both: to bring the platform to the reliability and security that national infrastructure demands, and to change how software gets built here so that a small, senior team ships more than a large one.

This role sits on the leadership team and reports to the CEO. To be direct about the shape of it: Product and Design report separately to the CEO, so you are not being handed product direction. You are being handed the platform, the AI and data layer, the engineering organization and its budget, and real authority over all four. If you want to build technology that a country's education system depends on, this is one of the few places in the world you can do it.

Key Responsibilities

  • The platform. Architecture, reliability and security of a system running more than 60 services on Kubernetes, in Go, Python and Node, with React and Next.js on the web and Kotlin on Android.
  • The AI and data platform. Our clients' AI answered over 660,000 student conversations this year, in Bangla, on a retrieval pipeline we built ourselves. You will own its quality, its architecture and its cost per student.
  • How they build. The engineers already work with AI Tools such as Claude Code and Cursor daily, under a written AI-first development standard. Adoption is uneven and the practice is young. You will own the paved path: the tooling, the context standards, the review and testing discipline, and the eval gates that let us trust what an agent produces in production.
  • The organization. You will set the bar for who works here, re-level the team against it, develop the area leads, and own the engineering budget and infrastructure spend.
  • The story. You will represent our technology credibly to partners, government stakeholders and investors.
  • The first twelve months. The hiring will be judged on four things: delivery becomes predictable and measurable; the platform has a stated reliability posture and meets it; AI-native practice is even across the team rather than concentrated in a few people; and engineering and AI spend is owned with a clear view of unit cost.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Depth in Go, Kubernetes or large microservice estates. Data and ML platform experience.
  • Experience delivering into government, public sector or regulated customers.
  • Having designed and shipped an AI-native development practice - methodology, context standards, eval or safety frameworks - rather than adopted someone else's.
  • Experience delivering into government, public sector or regulated customers.
  • Having worked closely with a founder CEO.
  • Owned an engineering organization end to end. You have been the person accountable for teams building a consumer product with real traffic, including when it broke.
  • Hands-on technical experience in the last three years: in code review, in architecture, on call, or shipping. You do need to be able to tell when you are being told something that is not true.
  • Changed how a team builds with AI. You use these AI tools daily yourself, and you can point at something concrete you changed because of them: a workflow, a review standard, a testing approach, a piece of tooling.
  • You can write a technical document, brief a non-technical stakeholder, and give an engineer difficult feedback in the same week.
  • Bangla fluency and familiarity with the Bangladesh market.

Employment Structure

  • Onsite in Dhaka | Full-time
  • Salary: BDT 350,000 - 450,000
  • Benefits: Two festival bonuses + health insurance.
  • Work Week: Sunday-Thursday,
