Job Description

Job Location: Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin & Trivandrum

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Technical Leadership

  • Own engineering strategy, architecture, and execution for iRetail and iFly RES platforms
  • Drive platform scalability, reliability, security, and performance excellence
  • Lead application modernization initiatives with incremental migration from legacy systems
  • Establish technology roadmaps aligned with product and business objectives

Large-Scale Organization Leadership

  • Lead a large product development organization with multiple Tribes and Tribe Leads
  • Build strong leadership pipelines including Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and Architects
  • Foster a high-performance, accountability-driven engineering culture

Delivery & Execution Excellence

  • Ensure predictable, high-quality delivery across agile programs
  • Drive continuous improvement in velocity, quality, and customer outcomes
  • Partner with Product, QA, DevOps, and Implementation teams for seamless releases

Engineering Governance & Quality

  • Implement best-in-class engineering practices including:
    • CI/CD pipelines with touchless releases
    • Automated testing (unit, service, integration)
    • Code quality, security, and performance standards
  • Ensure enterprise-grade design and build practices

Implementation Enablement

  • Work closely with implementation teams to:
    • Define scalable delivery frameworks
    • Establish engineering enablement processes
    • Support customer delivery expectations and success

Required Technical Competencies

Core Technologies

  • Strong hands-on engineering background in:
    • Java / J2EE enterprise platforms (mandatory)
    • Frontend technologies – Angular (primary), React exposure preferred

Modern Architecture Experience

  • Microservices-based architectures
  • RESTful APIs and GraphQL
  • Event-driven and distributed systems

Data Platforms

  • SQL and NoSQL databases
  • High-availability, high-performance backend systems

Engineering Tooling & Practices

  • CI/CD environments with frequent automated releases
  • Test automation frameworks
  • DevOps and cloud-native exposure (preferred)

Agile & Scale Leadership Experience

  • Proven experience leading large agile product teams
  • Strong background in scaled agile frameworks
  • Experience managing cross-tribe dependencies and delivery outcomes

AI Adoption & SDLC Modernization

  • Lead adoption of AI/GenAI across engineering
  • Define a modern AI‑enabled SDLC, including AI‑assisted development, testing, documentation, and code quality practices.
  • Establish governance and best practices for safe and responsible use of AI tools and models.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into platform and product roadmaps to drive efficiency and modernization.
  • Enable teams through AI upskilling, tool standardization, and clear performance KPIs.

Behavioral & Ownership Expectations

  • Demonstrates strong end-to-end ownership of platforms and delivery
  • Effectively balances legacy platform maintenance with modernization programs
  • Drives transformation roadmaps with clear milestones and sprint-level visibility
  • Strong stakeholder management across business, product, and delivery organizations
  • Data-driven decision making and execution focus

Preferred Qualifications

  • 18+ years of overall engineering experience
  • Experience in enterprise product organizations or SaaS platforms
  • Exposure to large-scale platform modernization programs
  • Travel/transportation domain experience is a plus
