Ihre Aufgaben

The Head of Dispatch is responsible for managing and supervising the flight dispatch and operational control functions. This role ensures the safe, legal and efficient execution of all flight operations. As the leader of the dispatch team, your responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, managing staff scheduling and training, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, including those set by EASA, ICAO and national authorities.

A key aspect of the role involves maintaining seamless coordination between the dispatch team, the flight crew, the maintenance team, and other relevant departments. The Head of Dispatch ensures that flight planning, routing, fuel calculations and weather/NOTAM briefings are carried out precisely and in accordance with established procedures. During irregular operations or disruptions, the Head of Dispatch plays a leading role in decision-making to maintain safety and minimise the impact on the flight schedule.

In addition to operational oversight, the Head of Dispatch is responsible for maintaining up-to-date manuals and documentation, supporting audits and authority inspections, and participating in the company’s Safety Management and Emergency Response programs.

  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team in a high-pressure operational environment.
  • Decision-Making Under Pressure: Capable of making sound and timely decisions, especially during disruptions or emergencies.
  • In-Depth Aviation Knowledge Solid understanding of flight operations, dispatch procedures, regulations, and aircraft performance.
  • Regulatory Awareness Familiarity with EASA, ICAO, and national aviation regulations relevant to dispatch and operations control.
  • Problem-Solving Skills Analytical mindset with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Organizational Ability Strong planning, prioritization, and coordination skills, especially in a 24/7 operational setting.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative and respectful in working with pilots, OCC staff, maintenance, and external partners.
  • Adaptability and ResilienceAble to adapt to changing conditions and maintain performance in dynamic situations.
  • Fluent English Language Skills with strong preference for professional working German.

Work Requirements

  • Eligibility for a Valid ZÜP (Zuverlässigkeitsüberprüfung) as per §7 LuftSiG
  • Unrestricted EU passport or the right to live and work in the EU
