The Head of Dispatch is responsible for managing and supervising the flight dispatch and operational control functions. This role ensures the safe, legal and efficient execution of all flight operations. As the leader of the dispatch team, your responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, managing staff scheduling and training, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, including those set by EASA, ICAO and national authorities.
A key aspect of the role involves maintaining seamless coordination between the dispatch team, the flight crew, the maintenance team, and other relevant departments. The Head of Dispatch ensures that flight planning, routing, fuel calculations and weather/NOTAM briefings are carried out precisely and in accordance with established procedures. During irregular operations or disruptions, the Head of Dispatch plays a leading role in decision-making to maintain safety and minimise the impact on the flight schedule.
In addition to operational oversight, the Head of Dispatch is responsible for maintaining up-to-date manuals and documentation, supporting audits and authority inspections, and participating in the company’s Safety Management and Emergency Response programs.
