Head of Disability & Voluntary Benefits Claims Operations

Location: Open to remote or hybrid candidates within the U.S. Candidates should be comfortable with regular travel and maintaining an in-person presence at a Prudential office as business needs require (Newark, NJ; Portland, ME; Fort Washington, PA; Hartford, CT).

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced executive leader to oversee our Disability and Voluntary Benefits Claims organization. This role is responsible for the strategy, performance, and transformation of claims operations across Disability (STD, LTD, Absence, Paid Leave) and Voluntary Benefits products (Supplemental Health, Critical Illness, Accident, and related offerings).

The successful candidate will lead a large-scale claims operation, ensuring exceptional customer outcomes, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous business transformation through technology, automation, and process innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end Disability and Voluntary Benefits Claims operations, ensuring high-quality service and consistent operational performance.

  • Deliver strong outcomes across customer experience, quality, productivity, and financial performance measures.

  • Partner with Product, Finance, Technology, Risk, Legal, and other business leaders to achieve strategic objectives.

  • Drive modernization efforts through process improvement, digital capabilities, AI, and automation.

  • Maintain a strong control environment and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and legal requirements.

  • Develop and execute workforce and talent strategies to build a high-performing, future-ready organization.

  • Lead and develop a team of senior leaders across a geographically dispersed organization.

  • Represent the claims organization with key internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in disability, absence management, voluntary benefits, or group insurance claims.

  • Significant experience leading large, multi-site operations with substantial organizational scope and complexity.

  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and large-scale transformation initiatives.

  • Deep understanding of disability and voluntary benefits products, claims administration, and relevant regulations.

  • Executive-level experience partnering across business functions, including Product, Finance, Technology, and Risk.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Advanced degree and/or industry designations preferred.

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $190,300.00 to $285,500.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills.
