What’s the Role:

As Head of Data & Intelligence, this role is accountable for lifting the division’s data and analytics maturity through modern data foundations, reusable data products, and embedded decision intelligence. It leads the use of advanced analytics, AI and the Westpac Intelligence Layer to deliver trusted, scalable insight, improve decision‑making, and drive productivity across the business. The role owns divisional data and analytics prioritisation, value realisation and governance, while building sustainable capability and ensuring AI and analytics are delivered safely, responsibly and in line with enterprise standards

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver a modern, scalable data ecosystem that embeds analytics, decision intelligence and AI into customer and business journeys.
  • Accelerate insight‑to‑action by integrating data‑driven decisioning into day‑to‑day business and operational processes.
  • Drive measurable improvements in customer outcomes, including engagement, personalisation and NPS, while supporting sustainable revenue growth through data‑led decisions.
  • Ensure all data, analytics and AI initiatives deliver quantifiable value and clearly defined ROI.
  • Establish and maintain trusted, explainable and compliant data, analytics and automation solutions that operate within risk appetite.
  • Enable the safe and confident adoption of advanced analytics and AI at scale through strong governance and Responsible AI practices.
  • Build an AI‑enabled, data‑led division with decision‑making embedded into operating rhythms, supported by the Westpac Intelligence Layer and agentic capabilities.
  • Align workforce capability and operating model with the Strategic Workforce Plan to ensure long‑term sustainability.

What do I need?

  • Senior leadership experience delivering large‑scale data, analytics, AI or technology‑enabled transformation with measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience across Enterprise functions including (Finance, Risk, etc) to drive reuseability and work with the heads across each vertical domains under Enterprise Functions.
  • Proven end‑to‑end delivery of data, analytics and AI initiatives driving revenue growth, productivity uplift, cost reduction and improved customer outcomes.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to prioritise data and AI investments based on ROI and business impact.
  • Executive‑level influence, shaping strategic decisions, funding priorities and enterprise direction.
  • Demonstrated operating‑model and change leadership, embedding analytics and decision intelligence into business decision‑making and operating rhythms.
  • Strong technical judgement across modern data ecosystems, data products and reusable platform foundations.
  • Practical experience scaling AI (ML and GenAI) and advanced analytics into production with governance, monitoring and value tracking.
  • Proven capability to build sustainable data and AI capability, including workforce strategy, talent pipelines, succession planning and operating effectively in regulated environments.
