Job Description

Who is Plenti?
Plenti is a fintech lender, providing faster, fairer loans by leveraging its smart technology. Plenti is a dynamic and innovative business that is growing strongly. By continuing to deliver better customer experiences, Plenti is taking market share from incumbent players in the personal lending, renewable energy, and automotive finance markets.

We are a fast moving and ambitious business that seeks to recruit smart and capable people, who can take ownership of their role to help the business thrive. With over 250 people based in Australia, Plenti is of a size where everyone can make a difference in their role and help us realise our very big ambitions as a team, as we go about building Australia’s best lender.

Plenti is a founder led business that launched in 2014, listed on the ASX since 2020 with annual revenue of over $250 million and a loan portfolio of over $3 billion.

About the role:
The Head of Data will lead Plenti’s data, analytics and business intelligence capability, redefining how data is generated, governed and leveraged across the organisation. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for scaling our modern Databricks-based platform, building a best-in-class BI function, and driving the shift from retrospective reporting to forward-looking, automated decisioning embedded within customer and operational journeys.

Partnering closely with Risk, Finance, Product, Marketing, Sales and Operations, the Head of Data will shape the strategy, operating model and culture needed to position data as a core enabler of growth, risk management and operational performance.

Success in this role will require strong commercial acumen, a proven track record of building and leading high-performing data teams, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive business decisions.

Key responsibilities:
Data Strategy & Execution

  • Define and execute a clear data strategy aligned to Plenti’s growth, risk and efficiency objectives
  • Map how data is generated and used across the business and identify opportunities to unlock incremental value
  • Translate strategic priorities into a sequenced roadmap with clear ownership, milestones and outcomes
  • Balance rapid delivery of high-impact use cases with long-term platform and capability build

Business Intelligence & Insights

  • Establish a best-in-class BI capability as the single source of truth for business performance, defining and governing core metrics, semantic layers and reporting standards
  • Replace manual and fragmented reporting with scalable, automated BI solutions accessible to executives, teams and partners
  • Lead the evolution from descriptive reporting (“what happened”) to diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive insights
  • Partner with the business — Risk, Finance, Product, Marketing, Sales and Operations — to deliver analytics that improve credit performance, pricing, customer acquisition and conversion, and operational efficiency
  • Embed actionable insights into workflows through dashboards, alerts and tools that empower business users to act

Platform, Architecture and Governance

  • Own the data platform — the design and evolution of our Databricks-based environment, ensuring scalable, reliable and cost-effective pipelines and architecture
  • Productionise models in partnership with Engineering, Risk and Product, embedding them into customer and operational workflows
  • Implement robust governance across data quality, lineage, privacy and regulatory compliance

Leadership and Operating Model

  • Lead a high-performing team across data engineering, BI and analytics
  • Define the operating model that maximises impact and alignment across data disciplines
  • Foster a data-driven culture built on continuous improvement and shared accountability

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Advocate for data across the business, partnering with executives to identify high-value use cases and drive adoption
  • Report transparently on data platform performance, usage, ROI and risk
  • Establish cross-functional forums to align on priorities, resolve issues and drive execution

About you:

You are a senior data leader who operates at the intersection of strategy, technology, and business. You combine strong technical depth with commercial acumen and are known for leading transformational change—shifting organisations from fragmented reporting toward cohesive, insight-driven decision-making.

You bring a balance of hands-on understanding and strategic leadership, with the ability to engage deeply on platform, architecture, and analytics while influencing at executive level.

You will have:

  • 10+ years' of experience, with 5 years in leadership across large-scale data and analytics teams in complex, regulated organisations
  • Proven experience transitioning organisations from reporting-led models to intelligence-led, insight-driven environments
  • Strong track record of building, leading, and scaling high-performing, multidisciplinary data teams
  • Demonstrated success in delivering data strategies that translate into measurable business outcomes
  • Deep expertise across modern cloud data platforms (e.g. Databricks), data engineering, BI, and advanced analytics / AI/ML
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders
  • Experience in financial services or lending is highly regarded; experience operating in a regulated environment is essential
