Kalas Mission: Serve the underbanked in LatAm!

Founded in 2021 by experts in lending and technology, Kala is a fintech company with two core

business lines: credit origination and credit portfolio servicing, focused on the underbanked

segments of LatAm. We are currently a team of 200 full-time employees, managing over USD 250

million in assets, and we are already profitable. We've experienced exponential growth over the

past year and have an ambitious product and business roadmap ahead of us.

You will build and lead Kalas Data function end-to-endhiring the team, defining the analytics

roadmap, and turning data into products, decisions, and measurable impact across Credit Risk and

Growth.

Key Responsibilities

Create the Data Analytics team: recruit, mentor, and develop data analysts/scientists;

establish career paths, rituals, and code standards.

Lead our Credit Risk and Growth data strategies: set the vision, roadmap, and KPIs;

ensure clear ownership, prioritization, and measurable outcomes.

Own credit risk analytics (PD/LGD/EAD modeling, vintage/cohort analysis, loss

forecasting, early-warning signals) to optimize credit policy and underwriting.

Lead growth analytics (funnel, CAC/LTV, channel attribution, cohort health), experiment

frameworks (A/B and multi-armed bandits), and incrementality measurement.

Partner with Engineering to design a scalable data platform (ingestion, modeling,

governance, observability); champion best practices in code review, testing, and

documentation.

Translate insight to action: craft decision memos and exec-level narratives; run quarterly

portfolio and growth reviews.

Required Qualifications:

8+ years in Data Analytics / Data Science, including 3+ years leading teams in fintech,

banking, or credit-heavy consumer businesses.

Proven impact leading credit risk and growth analytics improving approval rates,

losses, CAC/LTV, and conversion with clear KPI movement.

Exceptional business storytelling; able to influence executives and cross-functional partners.

English and Spanish proficiency.

Fluency in the core data stack:

Programming: Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn), SQL (complex joins, CTEs,

window functions).

Stat/ML: experimentation design, causal inference basics, classification/regression,

time-series, feature engineering, model validation/monitoring.

Data tools: dbt or equivalent data modeling, orchestration (Airflow or similar),

version control (Git).

Analytics & BI: Looker/Power BI/Tableau; dashboard design for exec and operator

audiences.

Big data & pipelines: experience with Spark/PySpark or equivalent; cloud DW

(BigQuery/Redshift/Snowflake); event tracking.

Nice to Have

Masters in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience building ML in production (feature stores, CI/CD for models, model governance).

Familiarity with Scala, R, or Docker; exposure to MLOps platforms.

Startup experience in high-growth environments.
