Job Description

Are you excited by the challenge of transforming complex content operations at global scale?

Do you want to lead change that strengthens research integrity and accelerates the dissemination of trusted science?

About our Team
Our STMJ (Science, Technology, and Medical Journals) team publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed research that drives progress across scientific and medical disciplines. We collaborate closely with authors, editors, reviewers, and societies to ensure the integrity and impact of the published work. Through innovation in editorial workflows and publishing technology, we help global research communities discover, evaluate, and disseminate knowledge that advances science and improves lives.

SSRN, part of STMJ, is a world class preprint server, providing a trustworthy online space for researchers to feely and openly share their pre-publication content.

About the Role
The Head of Content Process leads the transformation of SSRN’s end-to-end content processing into a scalable, controlled, analytics-driven, and highly automated operating model. This role shapes how submissions move from intake to publication, strengthening efficiency, quality, and research integrity. You will play a central role in enabling SSRN’s growth while protecting trust in its world-class preprint platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a scalable, technology-enabled end-to-end paper processing model supporting current and future growth
  • Redesign submission and processing workflows across intake, triage, integrity checks, routing, editing support, and communications
  • Establish governance, controls, and escalation paths to reduce research integrity and fraud risk
  • Define and oversee quality and fraud detection processes, including plagiarism, citation anomalies, and emerging integrity signals
  • Build and manage operational dashboards and KPIs to drive performance, transparency, and continuous improvement
  • Identify and deliver automation and outsourcing opportunities to improve efficiency and cost control
  • Manage external partners, vendors, and classification activities, including taxonomy ownership and optimization
  • Lead change management, documentation, training, and adoption of new workflows and controls across teams
  • Be a member of the SSRN Leadership Team, reporting to the Director of SSRN, while managing a team of 6 processors

Requirements

  • Experience designing and leading complex operational workflows in content, publishing, or knowledge-based environments
  • Demonstrated ability to use data, analytics, and KPIs to drive operational decisions and continuous improvement
  • Experience managing vendors, external partners, and distributed teams
  • Proven change leadership skills, including stakeholder engagement and adoption of new ways of working
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on operational execution
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical, product, and operational teams
  • Prefer an understanding of research integrity, quality assurance, risk management, or fraud control frameworks
