Who You Are / Your Next Challenge 
 
We are looking for a Head of Compliance / MLRO to join our Compliance team on a full-time, permanent basis in our Hong Kong office. This position reports directly to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer (CRCO), with dotted line reporting to our CEO in Hong Kong.
 
This role is essential as it serves as the local compliance leader, ensuring that our Hong Kong licensed entity operates in accordance with local regulatory expectations and adheres to Group policies.
 
As part of a centralised Compliance support team, the Head of Compliance/MLRO will assist the CRCO by reviewing operational and compliance processes. This position encompasses all aspects of compliance, including planning, reporting, and delivery. Additionally, it requires collaboration with other departments to ensure regulatory compliance and the development of policies that mitigate risks. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle the onboarding and ongoing reviews for Hong Kong’s portfolio of customers in line with group procedures
  • Support jurisdiction reviews for selected markets in Asia
  • Execute TM workload, escalate and report locally and to Head Office as necessary
  • Produce periodic TM reviews for local management record
  • Keep local office abreast of Group AML/CFT policies, relevant updates to laws, sanctions, risks and concerns
  • Update and enhance local policies, manuals, documentation as needed
  • Supporting local staffs’ training in AML/CFT, including ensuring the completion of both Group and local regulator’s training requirements
  • Overseeing local Compliance staff

This is a true business-partnering role, and the individual should have the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and feel comfortable challenging norms and enabling change. The ability to exercise good judgement, determine the appropriate course of action and execute decisions in the face of imperfect information is vital.
 
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team and work in a fast-paced environment, catering to a diverse mix of stakeholders with varying needs. Therefore, the ideal candidate should be a self-starter, as there is an opportunity to make an immediate and tangible contribution to the business.
 
Knowledge & Experience
  • Strong knowledge of MSO licencing and regulatory framework including the AML Ordinance
  • Experience of writing local policies with group policy alignment, whilst complying with local regulations.
  • Keeps abreast with local market and regulatory changes
  • Governance and stakeholder management experience
  • Strong communication skills – with ability to influence and build strong working relationships
  • Technical and Operational Competency
  • Experience of leadership with hands on execution – ‘Player-coach’ leadership style, preferably with experience of working in a global organisation
Skills and Competencies
  • Fluent in Cantonese and English
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to build effective professional relationships and collaborate with other areas of the business to a successful outcome
  • Effective report writing at a level suitable for executive dissemination
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Highly capable, working with complex and geographically diverse stakeholders to drive execution.

Please note: This is a permanent role within the Compliance team based in our Hong Kong office.
