Job Description

We are seeking a Head of Commercial and Operational Excellence to be accountable for ensuring robust and informed commercial decision-making and identifying areas for improvement and operational excellence across our business. The position will support the improvement of our organisational financial performance by developing our people’s commercial acumen through improved systems, processes, training and coaching. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, and based in either Christchurch or Wellington, this critical senior role will also be responsible for Fleet, Property and Procurement.

What You’ll Be Doing | Ngā Kawenga Takohanga
• Build and maintain constructive and supportive internal relationships with key stakeholders to provide commercial support
• Review and approve contracts, terms and tenders, as and when required
• Support The Project Office stakeholders on large project bids
• Develop processes and templates which support sound commercial decision-making
• Lead the fleet electrification programme
• Develop and execute a fit-for-purpose property strategy and ensure that we are optimising our procurement opportunities

What You’ll Bring to the Table | Ngā Mea ka Mauria e Ko:
• Proven experience in commercial management and in supporting organisations to operate in a more prudently fiscal environment
• Sound knowledge and experience with contract law and contractual terms and conditions
• Experience at developing and implementing systems, processes and templates which improve financial rigour
• A positive growth mindset and the ability to collaborate constructively with peers for the best outcomes
• Experience with leading fleet management, procurement and property / leases
• Legal right to work in Aotearoa, ability to pass a drug and alcohol test and willingness to consent to a Criminal Record Check
• Security specific requirements depending on position (e.g. MOJ clearance, NZDF access requirements)
