Job Description

The Head of Commercial Insurance is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the implementationofthecommerciallinesstrategybymanagingrelationshipswithbrokersandagents,monitoring performance, offering recommendations and actively promoting products and services in order to deliver the strategy outcomes. This individual acts as the primary interface between the company and its network of insurance brokers, ensuring mutually beneficial partnerships and the achievement of business objectives across all commercial insurance lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership Develop and implement the country-wide strategy for broker management and commercial insurance, aligning with the organization’s overall vision and growth objectives.
  • Broker Relationship Management Build, maintain, and enhance strong relationships with key brokers and intermediary partners. Negotiate terms, resolve conflicts, and ensure high levels of broker satisfaction. Provideadviceoncoverversions,aswellastechnicalsupporttoinsurancequestionstobrokersandcustomersthrough differentchannels.
  • Business Development Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities within the commercial insurance market. Drive new business acquisition, cross-selling, and retention initiatives through broker channels. Developeffectiveannualplansto growthebusiness and maintainaGroup-widerelationshipmapwitheachkeycontactwithintheBroker.Activelypromoteour productsservicestokeyAssignedBrokers'management,andrepresenttheAssignedBrokerinternallywithinthe organization.
  • Portfolio Management Oversee the performance, profitability, and risk profile of the commercial insurance portfolio. Monitor market trends and adjust underwriting strategies accordingly. Lead the Commercial Insurance portfolio with primary focus on large corporates with complex commercial risks, requiring strategic broker management and underwriting judgement.
  • Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of broker managers and commercial insurance professionals. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Regulatory Compliance Ensure all broker management and commercial insurance activities comply with local regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Market Intelligence Stay abreast of market developments, competitor activities, and emerging risks to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Reporting and Analytics Provide regular reports to regional and global leadership on broker channel performance, portfolio metrics, and market insights. Channel allideas,opportunities,andcomplaintstoappropriateBusinessDivision-Country-BusinessUnit-DistributionManagement group within the organization and follow-up any resulting actions.
  • Stakeholder EngagementUnderstand and communicate to all relevant staff within theorganizationhoweachassignedBrokerevaluatesinsurersagainstthedemandsandneedsofcustomers,and-orthe attractiveness of insurers generally. Offer professional and collaborative relationship management to the brokers, including also the active relations.
  • Technical Expertise & Leadership : Demonstrates strong understanding of commercial insurance products and customer risk exposures, and provide leadership and oversight to the Commercial Insurance underwriting team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in the general insurance industry, with a significant focus on broker management and commercial insurance.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing business strategies, managing large portfolios, and leading teams.
  • Strong understanding of local and international insurance regulations and market dynamics.
  • Demonstrate commitment to corporate values
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and market trends.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to influence at all organizational levels.
