Role purpose

The Head of Commercial Execution, leads commercial execution across IWPB Mexico, translating country and regional priorities into an integrated delivery roadmap, ensuring disciplined governance, performance management and value realization; is accountable for shaping and driving the end-to-end commercial strategy for Wealth in Mexico, translating strategic priorities into measurable outcomes across the franchise. Reporting directly to the Head of IWPB Mexico, this role leads the country’s commercial agenda, champions innovation and simplification, and ensures effective execution by connecting strategy, sales, product, marketing, and operations to deliver sustainable growth and improved customer outcomes. Leads a senior team and orchestrates delivery across functions and channels to drive measurable commercial outcomes and frontline adoption.

The role acts as the key integrator between strategic intent and operational delivery, removing execution barriers, accelerating decision-making, and resolving cross-functional topics to ensure initiatives land effectively in the front line. It is responsible for aligning Mexico’s commercial KPIs and performance management with Regional and Group expectations, embedding disciplined governance and clear accountability. In addition, the role support the strategic communication approach for major Wealth changes, ensuring messages are timely, consistent, and compelling, and supporting adoption across stakeholders to protect momentum, engagement, and delivery quality.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Lead the country commercial execution agenda for IWPB Mexico, translating strategic priorities into a clear, outcomes-based plan with defined initiatives, milestones, owners, dependencies and benefits.
  • Define and drive the IWPB Mexico commercial strategy across customer segments and channels, ensuring alignment to the Mexico Wealth ambition and delivering sustainable growth, improved customer outcomes and enhanced frontline productivity.
  • Sponsor and accelerate innovation and simplification across propositions, customer journeys, tools and processes, identifying scalable opportunities and removing complexity that inhibits commercial performance.
  • Integrate strategy and operational delivery by acting as the primary bridge between Commercial, Sales, Product, Marketing, Digital, COO/Operations and supporting functions; resolve cross-functional issues and unblock execution constraints at pace.
  • Establish and maintain a robust performance management framework, aligning Mexico KPIs, targets and leading indicators with Regional and Group priorities; drive a disciplined review rhythm and corrective actions where performance is off-track.
  • Implement and chair effective commercial governance to manage delivery, including portfolio prioritisation, initiative tracking, risk and issue management, and decision escalation, ensuring transparency and accountable ownership.
  • Develop and deliver strategic communication plans for major Wealth changes (e.g., proposition, process, policy, capability and operating model changes), ensuring messages are clear, consistent and tailored to stakeholder and frontline needs to enable adoption.
  • Partner and influence senior stakeholders across Mexico, Region and Group to secure alignment on priorities, trade-offs and outcomes; represent Mexico’s commercial execution needs in relevant forums as required.
  • Monitor and optimise commercial initiatives end-to-end, using performance insights, customer feedback and operational data to refine plans, improve effectiveness and maximise return on investment.
  • Embed a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement across teams, ensuring ways of working support efficient delivery and effective change adoption.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Provide visible, values-led leadership that sets clear direction, inspires confidence, and role-models accountable execution across IWPB Mexico.
  • Build and sustain high-trust partnerships with Sales, Product, Marketing, Digital, COO/Operations and enabling functions to deliver shared outcomes through strong collaboration and disciplined follow-through.
  • Influence and align senior stakeholders across Mexico, Region and Group, navigating competing priorities to secure timely decisions, resources and sponsorship for the commercial agenda.
  • Lead through ambiguity and change, prioritising effectively, making sound judgements at pace, and driving clarity across teams when requirements or conditions shift.
  • Facilitate constructive challenge and inclusive decision-making, welcoming diverse perspectives and ensuring the best ideas are surfaced and actioned.
  • Coach and develop leaders and key talent involved in commercial execution, strengthening capability in delivery discipline, stakeholder management and performance management.
  • Create a performance culture that sets clear expectations, measures outcomes, recognises impact, and addresses underperformance promptly and fairly.
  • Operate as an enterprise leader, breaking silos and connecting teams to deliver end-to-end customer and commercial outcomes rather than functional targets.
  • Communicate with clarity and purpose, tailoring messages to different audiences and ensuring teams understand the “what”, “why” and “how” behind key decisions and changes.
  • Promote resilient, sustainable ways of working, balancing pace with quality, and supporting colleague wellbeing while meeting delivery commitments.
  • Span of control: Leads a team of 3 senior leaders (2x GCB4, 1x GCB5) plus indirect matrix across IWPB Mexico.

Functional Knowledge

  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of Wealth/Private Banking commercial levers, including client segmentation, acquisition and deepening, needs-based advice, product suitability, pricing, and channel effectiveness.
  • Apply strong understanding of IWPB end-to-end operating models, including Sales/Distribution, Product, Marketing, Digital, Service and Operations, and how interdependencies impact delivery and customer outcomes.
  • Leverage proven expertise in commercial execution, including portfolio planning, initiative management, benefit realisation, dependency mapping, risk/issue management, and governance routines.
  • Use advanced performance management capability, including KPI design (leading and lagging indicators), target-setting, management information (MI), root-cause analysis, and action-oriented performance rhythms.
  • Demonstrate strong change management knowledge, including stakeholder analysis, change impact assessment, readiness planning, training enablement, and adoption measurement for frontline and operational teams.
  • Develop and deliver strategic communications approaches for business change, including message architecture, narrative development, executive briefing, and multi-channel communications planning.
  • Interpret customer, commercial and operational data to generate insights, prioritise actions and optimise performance; ensure appropriate data quality, controls and reporting discipline.
  • Understand and manage key conduct, regulatory and risk considerations relevant to Wealth, including customer suitability, sales practices, financial crime risk, data privacy, complaints, and operational resilience ensuring commercial execution is compliant by design.
  • Engage effectively with regional and group governance requirements, including alignment to Group standards, frameworks and reporting expectations, and the ability to translate these into local execution plans.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of digital sales and service journeys and the role of technology enablement (CRM, campaign management, pipeline tools and workflow automation) in improving commercial outcomes.
