Job Description

At Bondora, our mission is simple: to make finance easy, transparent, and accessible for everyone.

Founded in 2008, we’ve helped more than 700,000 customers across Europe borrow and invest effortlessly through our trusted digital products.

As a rapidly growing financial technology company, we’re reaching new heights with a bold vision. We’re set to acquire a banking license, unlocking a world of possibilities for our customers. This transition will allow us to expand our lending across more EU countries and broaden our product suite to deliver even more value.

Join us on this journey and let’s build the future of finance together!

What is this role about?

As the Head of Collections and Recovery Operations, you will own and continuously optimise Bondora’s multi-market collections and recovery function, ensuring it scales efficiently with portfolio growth while remaining consistent, data-informed, and aligned with risk and financial outcomes.

You will lead the transformation of Collections & Recovery from a locally optimised, execution-heavy setup into a centrally governed, strategy-driven operating model within a hub-and-spoke structure. This role combines strategic ownership with operational execution, ensuring that treatment strategies, processes, and performance management are standardised and effective across all markets.

You will work at the intersection of Operations, Credit Risk, Loan Servicing, Finance, and Product, acting as a key driver of portfolio performance and recovery outcomes.

This role is in EU, and we do not offer relocation or remote outside of EU.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Design and standardise operational workflows for early, mid, and late-stage collections and recovery.
  • Lead and develop Collections & Recovery Managers in a matrix structure, ensuring alignment between central strategy and local execution.
  • Define and oversee external recovery strategies, including legal processes and third-party debt collection agencies.
  • Own performance frameworks, including recovery rates, cure rates, roll rates, cost-to-collect, and time-to-collect.
  • Drive continuous optimisation of collections efficiency, reducing manual work and improving scalability through processes and tooling.
  • Ensure consistent reporting, performance transparency, and governance across all markets.

What would ensure success in this role?

  • Strong experience in collections and recovery within consumer lending, fintech, or financial services.
  • Proven track record of managing multi-market operations and scaling operational functions.
  • Deep understanding of delinquency dynamics, recovery drivers, and treatment strategies across the lifecycle.
  • Experience working in centralised or hub-and-spoke operating models.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies.
  • Solid understanding of credit risk, portfolio performance, and financial impact of recovery outcomes.
  • Experience managing external partners such as debt collection agencies and legal providers.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills in a matrix organisation.
  • Clear communication, structured thinking, and strong ownership mindset.

What can you expect at Bondora?

  • Contribute to Bondora’s ambitious goal of reaching 1BN in revenue. Your skills and efforts will directly impact our growth trajectory and shape the future of our company.
  • Our employees deserve the best. We recognize our people with a competitive salary and a generous benefits package (5 weeks of vacation, private healthcare compensation, hobby grant, mental healthcare support, share options and much more!)
  • We provide an environment that encourages your personal and professional growth. As we constantly evolve and innovate, you’ll have endless opportunities (and budget) to expand your skills and skyrocket your career.
