About the Role
Birmingham City Council is the largest local authority in Europe, serving over one million residents and managing a complex and high-value capital programme alongside significant treasury management responsibilities. As part of our ongoing financial recovery and transformation journey, we are seeking an experienced and strategic finance leader to take on the role of Head of Capital and Treasury
This is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the Council’s capital strategy, treasury management, and wider balance sheet stewardship. You will play a central role in ensuring strong financial governance, sustainable investment decisions, and compliance with all statutory and professional requirements, including the CIPFA Prudential and Treasury Management Codes.
Working closely with the Section 151 Officer, Corporate Leadership Team, Commissioners, and Members, you will help shape and deliver a robust, transparent, and sustainable financial framework that supports the Council’s long-term priorities.
