We are looking for a Head of Business Development to join our Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics Laboratories team.

Title: Head of Business Development (Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics Laboratories)

Salary: £59,697 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 35 per week (standard Anthony Nolan working hours)

Location: Hybrid, with head office in Hampstead, London

The Head of Business Development is responsible for leading the commercial growth and development of Anthony Nolan H&I Laboratories, while providing strategic leadership to the Business Delivery and Laboratory Operations functions.

You will develop and deliver our commercial strategy, proactively identifying new markets, customers and opportunities while developing existing customer relationships. You will own opportunities from initial prospecting and engagement through proposition development, pricing and negotiation to implementation, working across the laboratories and wider organisation to convert opportunities into sustainable services.

Your responsibility extends beyond business development. You will lead the teams that support the delivery and effective operation of our laboratory services, ensuring that commercial ambition is matched by the capacity, infrastructure and operational support needed to deliver successfully.

• Your wider remit includes strategic oversight of areas such as laboratory asset management, health and safety, temperature and environmental monitoring, facilities and building management, working with specialist teams across Anthony Nolan to ensure our laboratory environment remains safe, compliant, resilient and fit for purpose.
• Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Operations, you will lead the Business Delivery Supervisor and Laboratory Operations Supervisor and work closely with scientific, quality and operational leaders across Anthony Nolan.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A demonstrable track record of identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities and delivering commercial growth.
• Significant business development, commercial or strategic account experience within healthcare, diagnostics, life sciences, biotechnology or a related sector.
• Experience developing commercial strategy and building a pipeline of prospective customers, partners and opportunities.
• Strong external relationship-building and networking skills, with the ability to represent an organisation confidently with prospective customers and partners.
• Experience developing proposals, pricing and commercial models and leading commercial negotiations and contracts.
• The ability to understand customer requirements and influence internal stakeholders to turn opportunities into deliverable services.
• Strong leadership experience, with the ability to lead teams spanning both commercial and operational responsibilities in a complex environment.
• Experience overseeing operational delivery, with an understanding of the infrastructure, assets, systems and support functions required to deliver effective services.
• Experience managing budgets, commercial performance and business planning.
• An understanding of regulated healthcare, diagnostics, life sciences or laboratory environments.
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder-management skills.
