CARE is seeking a senior leader to deepen CARE's relationships with the new wealth and influence emerging from Silicon Valley's technology and AI boom. That community includes frontier AI labs; the founders, leaders and employees turning equity into liquidity through IPOs and share sales; the family offices and wealth advisors directing that money; and the foundations and giving vehicles it is creating. The opportunity is significant and the window is narrow, and a central part of the mandate is making the case for CARE's place in it. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, this leader will own an initial fundraising goal of $100 million over two years, build CARE's pipeline of transformational relationships with this community, and lead CARE's strategy and execution in this market. This leader works horizontally across the organization, partnering with colleagues in Resource Development, Programs, Marketing and Digital to deliver this work.
For decades, CARE has been one of the world's most trusted humanitarian organizations. We reach 60 million people a year in more than 100 countries, and 97% of our staff come from the communities we serve. We've helped governments take proven solutions to national scale — in health systems and vaccination, nutrition and financial inclusion — and those programs endure long after CARE steps back. CARE is uniquely positioned to supercharge some of the world's most cost-effective, high-impact solutions, with the experience and capacity to reach millions more people and advance our mission to save lives and defeat poverty. We're also already deploying AI and emerging technology ourselves: offline Edge AI for frontline responders, satellite imagery for disaster assessment, and AI-enabled farming advice and maternal health tools. These strengths are the foundation of the case this role will make to an audience that doesn't yet know CARE this way.
This is a rare, high-impact role. You'll extend CARE's existing Resource Development relationships and strategy into this community, work directly with CARE's President and CEO and Board, and help shape where a generation of new wealth goes. Above all, you'll put that influence to work on the world's biggest problems, helping to end poverty and inequality for good.
Build and personally manage a prioritized network of at least 25 funders, technology leaders, family offices, foundations, advisors and connectors who could become CARE's next transformational partners, moving each from first conversation to major commitment alongside Resource Development's channel leads. This network is the engine for the initial $100 million goal. In year one, launch CARE's Bay Area advisory group (see below).
Position CARE as the partner of choice for AI labs and technology companies that want their tools to deliver real-world impact. Broker and steward joint projects that pair their engineers, researchers and product teams with CARE program teams on field challenges, building on work already underway. Grow the CARE AI Corps as the home for this work. Ensure every project is shaped by the communities CARE serves, designed for responsible use and built to scale, and feed the results back into CARE's case to funders. These relationships must produce tangible partnership, shared work and evidence of impact — not just goodwill.
Launch and lead a Bay Area advisory group of 8–12 influential technology and philanthropy leaders who shape CARE's strategy, expand our network and open doors. This is a standing body, not a one-off guest list — and it's what makes the salons and dinners worth attending.
Draw on personal and CARE relationships to turn introductions into substantive conversations, and cultivate champions who bring CARE into their own networks. This work happens in person — at salons, fireside chats and dinners across the Bay Area — not behind a desk. Know when to bring CARE's President and CEO, the Chief Revenue Officer and engaged Board members into the conversation. Work with senior leadership and the Board to sharpen our case and positioning.
Lead the plan for CARE's push in this market, working with colleagues across Resource Development, Marketing and Programs to produce salons, fireside chats, dinners and trips to see the work firsthand. Coordination support for day-to-day logistics is planned so this leader's time stays focused on relationships, strategy and multiplying our efforts.
