As Head of Banking Solutions you will undertake a critical leadership role responsible for bridging the banking requirements of the Group and the technological and clients platforms capabilities within our core banking operations.

You will lead a team responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing enhancement of the Bank core banking systems and related solutions. It covers the implementation and optimisation of all backend and back-office core activities, including the core banking platform, integration of industry-standard solutions, tax reporting capabilities, statutory and regulatory reporting requirements. The role also includes business analysis with a holistic view of the Group’s Banking functions (Finance, ALM, Risk & Back-Office), scaling operations through efficient tooling and managing critical integrations with external financial service providers.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role requires strategic thinking with deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and a proven track record of leading high-performing teams in a complex financial environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Shape and deliver the strategic roadmap for the Banking Solutions department, aligning it with the overall business objectives of the company.
    • Act as a thought leader on emerging technologies and industry best practices related to core banking systems, integration, and automation.
    • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance customer experience.
    • Make informed decisions about ‘build-versus-buy’ strategies for banking solutions.
    • Identify, develop and lead proposition.
  • Core Banking System Management:
    • Oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of the core banking system(s) and related applications, supporting the Group’s evolving activities and strategic goals.
    • Ensure the core banking infrastructure remains stable, secure, reliable and scalable.
    • Lead major system upgrades, migrations, and implementations.
    • Oversee the technical architecture ensuring best integration and leverage of the core banking into the broader technological environment of the Group.
  • Integration and Interoperability:
    • Manage the integration of the core banking system with internal and external systems, including front-end applications, back-office systems, payment gateways, and third-party financial service providers.
    • Ensure seamless data flow and interoperability between systems for payments, settlement, corporate actions, securities lending, leasing, and reconciliations.
  • Regulatory Compliance, Legal and Reporting:
    • Ensure all solutions, integrations and developments comply with applicable banking regulations and reporting requirements, including tax reporting and regulatory transaction reporting.
    • Lead the implementation and ongoing enhancement of systems and processes to meet evolving regulatory demands.
    • Stay updated on regulatory changes and translate them into IT and data requirements.
    • Drive automation and efficiency of regulatory reporting systems by ensuring seamless data integration to enhance reporting accuracy.
    • Actively support internal and external audit activities.
    • Support the Legal Department in addressing the authorities request.
  • Business Analysis and Requirements (Group-level Banking Activities):
    • Lead a team of business analysts to gather, analyse, and document business requirements for new and enhanced banking solutions, producing clear functional specifications that enable efficient, fully integrated technical solutions.
    • Translate business needs into functional and technical requirements.
    • Ensure strong representations of the Group’s interest, in particular Finance, ALM, Back-Office and Risk Management functions in the strategic business evolutions, especially for expanding new products and services to the targeted markets and clients’ segments.
    • Ensure the prioritisation and management of the backlog of development tasks to support those business and functional specifications.
    • Provide high data quality, granularity and completeness to ensure comprehensive reporting, extensive controls and modelling as required by the professional banking industry and regulations.
  • Finance & ALM Support:
    • Provide critical support to the Finance, Accounting and Asset Liability Management (ALM) functions, including in term of data quality, reporting, and modelling.
    • Ensure that the core banking systems provide the necessary data and functionality to support Finance and ALM activities and control, including when executing its own in-house activities (e.g. "own book").
  • Leadership and Management:
    • Provide strategic direction and mentoring to ensure continuous development, operational rigor, and high team engagement.
    • Design the department’s organization and create a motivational environment for all members of the department
    • Oversee all people-related subjects (talent acquisition and management, compensation) to build and grow a high-caliber team
    • Design cross-departmental processes and ensure their application in collaboration with other directors
  • Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage the budget for the Banking Solutions department.
    • Track expenses, monitor resource allocation, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Vendor Management:
    • Select, onboard, and continuously oversee vendors delivering solutions and/or services.
    • Monitor vendor performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and service-level agreements (SLAs).

Qualifications

Mandatory requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry, with a strong focus on core banking systems and technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, managing high-performing teams.
  • Min. bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience with core banking system implementation, integration, and maintenance (e.g., Temenos T24, Finastra FusionBanking, FIS Profile, Oracle FLEXCUBE, SAP for Banking – specify relevant systems if possible).
  • Deep understanding of banking operations, including deposits, loans, payments, settlements, and treasury.
  • Experience with financial messaging standards (e.g., ISO 20022, SWIFT).
  • Strong understanding of regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., Basel III, IFRS, local regulations).
  • Experience with ALM, Finance & Back Office processes within a banking environment.
  • Experience with API management and integration technologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies is a plus (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
