Position Overview
Our client, a leading organization in the aviation industry, is seeking an experienced Head of Accounting & Finance to lead its accounting and finance functions. This role will oversee financial reporting, accounting operations, financial planning, budgeting, cash flow management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will act as a strategic business partner to senior management, providing financial insights and recommendations to support business performance, operational efficiency, and long-term growth in a dynamic, highly regulated industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Lead the overall accounting function, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial records and reporting.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
- Ensure financial statements comply with applicable accounting standards, statutory requirements, and company policies.
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage the preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide management with financial analysis, business performance reports, and actionable recommendations.
- Support strategic decision-making through financial modelling, scenario analysis, and profitability assessments.
- Treasury & Cash Flow Management
- Oversee cash flow planning, liquidity management, and working capital optimization.
- Monitor cash requirements and support effective financial resource allocation.
- Manage banking relationships and coordinate financing activities where required.
- Taxation & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations, statutory filings, and relevant financial reporting requirements.
- Oversee tax planning, tax submissions, and coordination with external tax advisors.
- Maintain effective internal controls and financial policies to mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Business Partnering & Strategic Support
- Partner with senior management and business functions to evaluate business performance and financial implications.
- Provide financial insights to support cost management, operational efficiency, and profitability improvement.
- Assess financial risks and identify opportunities to strengthen financial performance.
- Support business initiatives, investment evaluations, and strategic projects as required.
- Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead, develop, and motivate the accounting and finance team.
- Establish clear processes, performance standards, and accountability within the function.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, reporting processes, and internal controls.
- Promote a culture of financial discipline, transparency, and operational excellence.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or professional accounting qualification is an advantage.
- Extensive experience in accounting and finance, including leadership responsibility for a finance or accounting function.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, taxation, and internal controls.
- Experience in aviation, airline, transportation, or another complex, asset-intensive industry would be an advantage.
- Proven ability to work closely with senior management and translate financial information into business recommendations.
- Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to financial governance.
- Good English communication skills and proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
