Job Description

Job Responsibility

Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

- Supervise and participate in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical issues related to machinery and equipment.

- Oversee corrective maintenance activities, ensuring quick and efficient resolution of breakdowns.

Monitor the condition of mechanical equipment through inspections, diagnostics, and performance assessments.
Ensure timely response to machinery breakdowns and coordinate repairs.

- Ensure timely completion of maintenance work orders and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities.

- Lead, mentor, and manage the mechanical maintenance team, ensuring skill development and performance optimization.

Study the Minor/Major CAPEX requirement and recommend the same for preparation of Minor Capex Approval Doc's


- Prepare and manage the maintenance department’s budget, including costs for spare parts, labour, and equipment.
Optimize resource utilization to reduce maintenance costs without compromising quality or safety.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operation and minimal downtime.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and guide the team in resolving them
Ensure all machinery and equipment are maintained according to manufacturer’s specifications.
Stay updated on the latest industry trends and incorporate new technologies where applicable.

Budget and Resource Management:

- Prepare and manage the mechanical maintenance budget.

- Optimize the use of resources to ensure cost-effective maintenance solutions.

- Oversee the procurement of spare parts and maintenance supplies.

Safety and Compliance:

- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.

- Promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for improving the reliability and performance of machinery and equipment.
  • Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions
  • Implement upgrades or modifications to systems to enhance productivity and extend equipment life.
  1. Knowledge , skills and experience (Minimum level)

Educational qualifications B.E. / B.Tech – Mechanical Work Experience

  • Minimum of 12 years of work experience in mechanical maintenance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Working experience in Steel processing centre or steel rolling mills.
