Position Title: Head of Legal Commercial & Product

Reports To: General Counsel

About the Role

The Head of Legal will lead the legal, compliance, and risk function in Singapore and serve as a key legal advisor to senior management across multiple Southeast Asian markets. This position is responsible for providing strategic legal guidance on commercial, product, regulatory, and operational matters across the groups fast-scaling platform business.

You will ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements, lead risk management efforts, and actively contribute to business model innovation and commercial strategy. The role involves close collaboration with Product, Management, and Global Legal teams.

Key Responsibilities

Legal & Product Advisory

• Provide legal support on commercial operations, new product rollouts, and partnerships.
• Advise on legal risks related to commercial contracts, technology, data privacy, sanctions, and IP.
• Work closely with Product teams to assess risk and shape compliant product development.

Compliance, Risk & Governance

• Oversee the implementation and enforcement of internal compliance frameworks (anti-bribery, anti-corruption, data privacy).
• Maintain and enhance internal controls to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate legal risks.
• Monitor regulatory developments and ensure business alignment with applicable laws.

Corporate & Disputes

• Manage legal entity compliance and corporate housekeeping across jurisdictions.
• Support M&A, restructuring, and strategic initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Handle significant legal disputes and litigation in coordination with external counsel.

Team & Stakeholder Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop a mid-sized legal team in Singapore.
• Act as a key liaison between local markets and global headquarters, ensuring alignment of group legal policies.
• Represent the company in front of regulators, external legal advisors, and industry associations.

Required Qualifications

• Admitted to practice law in Singapore (or other common law jurisdiction with strong Singapore market experience).
• Minimum 10 years of post-qualification legal experience, with at least 5 years in a senior legal role.
• Strong background in commercial law, product advisory, and regulatory compliance.
• Prior in-house experience in a technology, digital platform, or e-commerce company preferred.
• Proven ability to manage multi-jurisdictional legal teams and coordinate legal operations in matrix organizations.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth, regional business environment.
