• Manages and oversees the overall operations of the analytical laboratory, including purchase of laboratory equipment and supplies, budgeting, capital requisition, staff matters and ensures timeliness of test reports. Head of Lab Services and approved signatory of test reports.

• Provides laboratory testing services to estates, mills and other subsidiaries of the company as well as to external customers.

• Leads and guides the development and implementation of Laboratory Management Systems in all analytical laboratories and Quality Improvement Processes for efficient and quality services.

• Responsible for the development and implementation of occupational, safety and health processes to ensure a safe and conducive working environment.

• Provides laboratory audits/advisory visits to palm oil mills or operational facilities/assets related to the business to support testing and laboratory services activities.

• Carries out research on new techniques in the development of new/improved test methods.

• Analyses research data and produces scientific/research paper.

• Provides training to equip staff with necessary technical knowledge and skills required for effective execution of their duties.

• Identify development objectives and needs for the team of chemists/executives according to requirements and manage them effectively.

• Develops and maintains close relations with relevant government authorities and agencies especially in the areas of quality and certification. Ensures all statutory requirements are met.

• Keep abreast with latest current technology developments and trends.

• Promotes and plans engagements with new customers on testing services

• Performs any other duties as directed by Head, Upstream Research and/or other superior from time to time

Job Requirement

• Degree in Chemistry or any related discipline in science.

• Member of Institut Kimia Malaysia (IKM).

• 15-20 years working experience in the related field.

• Experience in laboratory management, MS ISO/IEC 17025 & OSH implementations.
