At Orange Lutheran High School, we develop Christ-centered athletes who compete with excellence and lead with character. Our athletic programs are designed to challenge students to reach their fullest potential while grounding them in Christian values. We are seeking a Head Football Coach who is passionate about competitive excellence and helping our athletes grow not only as players but as individuals who embody strong character, leadership, and faith. We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Head Football Coach to lead our program in the nation’s top athletic league. This coach will inspire and challenge student-athletes to strive for excellence in every aspect of the game, while instilling Christian values such as integrity, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The Head Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to compete at the highest level, overseeing player development, and fostering a culture of discipline, faith, and success.
Reports to: Director of Athletics
Supervises: Assistant Coaches, Football Program Manager, Offensive Coordinator, and College Recruiting Coordinator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Lead and oversee all levels and functions of the football program, cultivating a positive and productive environment for student-athletes and staff
- Model and lead Christ-centered discipleship within the football program, providing opportunities for student-athletes and coaches to hear the Gospel and engage in spiritual growth
- Develop and sustain a football program grounded in sound athletic principles and Christ-centered team values, including discipline, integrity, respect, and sportsmanship
- Design and implement comprehensive in-season, off-season, and summer training programs in collaboration with performance coaches, emphasizing skill development, physical conditioning, and strategic understanding of the game
- Serve as a primary point of contact for the football program in coordination with the Athletic and school leadership.
- Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by the staff
- Foster a collaborative coaching environment
- Recruit, hire, and mentor assistant coaches and support staff, ensuring proper alignment with program goals and values
- Supervise assistant coaches and support staff in accordance with school policies and established personnel procedures
- Approve timecards on schedule; ensure assistant coaches comply with school payroll procedures and government wage and hour laws
- Work with performance coaches to plan and direct physical conditioning programs
- Stay current with applicable rules, techniques, and best practices relevant to the sport of football and interscholastic athletics
- Develop off-season training programs and summer opportunities
- Manage program equipment and support budget planning and purchasing processes in coordination with the athletic leadership and school finance procedures
- Communicate program information to school administration, students, parents, and the community
- Engage in football program fundraising efforts through close coordination with the Development Team
- Plan and lead an annual end-of-season program celebration
- Coordinate team transportation needs in collaboration with the Athletic Department, ensuring alignment with school transportation policies
- Collaborate with Athletic Administration in the development of competition schedules and facility usage plans
- Recommend policy, method, or procedural changes to the Athletic Director
- Awareness of athletic and occupational hazards and safety precautions. Administers first aid and contacts EMS when appropriate. Promptly reports all sports-related injuries and coordinates with athletic trainers
- Support student-athletes in identifying and pursuing appropriate collegiate scholarship and recruitment opportunities
- Provide instruction, leadership, and oversight of student-athletes consistent with the mission and values of the school
- Assure proper supervision of students at practices, team meetings, and or at team travel
- Instruct individuals and teams in sport rules, game strategies, and performance principles, adapting the method to meet varying student needs
- Provide training, direction, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for competition
- Establish, communicate, monitor, and enforce safety rules and the proper use of equipment
- Plan, organize, and conduct effective and developmentally appropriate practice sessions
- Monitor student conduct and performance eligibility; establish rules for behavior; work with the Director of Athletics, administrators, and faculty to resolve academic and behavioral issues
- Evaluate athlete skills and performance to inform development, placement, and team participation decisions
- Attend department and team meetings and required school functions
ADMISSIONS
- Serve as an active partner with the Admissions team in the attraction and retention of students to Orange Lutheran High School.
- Provide appropriate program-related input to the Financial Aid Committee in accordance with school policy.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrator

Education
High School diploma; Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience
At least four years of high school head coaching experience
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND CLEARANCES
- Valid CPR, TB, and First Aid Certifications
- Ministry Safe Clearance
- Cleared Background/Fingerprint check
- Valid California Driver's License
- NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate
- NFHS Concussion in Sports Certificate
- NFHS Heat Illness Prevention Certificate
- NFHS Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certificate

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods, speak clearly, hear accurately, and move about the campus, gymnasium, or athletic field
