About the Role

The Global Head Digital & Technology Officer, P&C Re is accountable for the end-to-end Digital & Technology agenda supporting our global Property & Casualty Reinsurance business.

As a member of the senior Digital & Technology leadership team and a strategic partner to the P&C Re Executive Leadership Team, this role shapes how technology enables the business to grow, operate efficiently, manage risk and respond to an evolving reinsurance landscape.

The role combines technology strategy, business transformation and large-scale operational leadership. It requires an executive who can translate business strategy into a clear technology agenda, lead a significant global technology organization and portfolio, and determine where modernization and innovation will deliver meaningful commercial value.

The successful candidate will bring deep experience operating at scale within complex, highly regulated financial services environments, together with the leadership capability to drive transformation across businesses, functions and geographies.

Key Responsibilities

Set the Digital & Technology Strategy

• Own the global Digital & Technology strategy for P&C Re, ensuring technology priorities, investment and capabilities are closely aligned with business strategy and the broader Group technology agenda.
• Act as a trusted strategic partner to P&C Re leadership, bringing a technology perspective to business strategy, growth, operational effectiveness and transformation.
• Translate business priorities into a pragmatic, multi-year technology roadmap with clear outcomes, investment priorities and accountability.
• Represent P&C Re within enterprise technology decision-making, ensuring opportunities for shared platforms, capabilities and investments are fully leveraged.
• Maintain a forward-looking perspective on technology and industry developments, identifying where emerging capabilities can create meaningful competitive or operational advantage.

Lead Transformation, Engineering & Innovation

• Lead the modernization and simplification of the P&C Re technology landscape, balancing transformation ambition with commercial value, operational stability and business continuity.
• Strengthen modern engineering, architecture and delivery practices to improve speed, resilience, quality and predictability.
• Drive transformation of technology operating models, including organizational structures, location strategy, sourcing and strategic technology partnerships.
• Champion the responsible adoption of data, analytics, automation and AI, including Generative AI, to enhance productivity, decision-making and business outcomes.
• Build an environment where innovation is encouraged while investment remains focused on opportunities with clear strategic or commercial value.
• Partner across Digital & Technology to leverage enterprise capabilities while ensuring solutions meet the specific needs of the P&C Re business.

Own Technology Performance, Investment & Risk

• Hold end-to-end accountability for a significant global technology organization, application landscape and investment portfolio supporting the P&C Re business.
• Ensure technology services and platforms are resilient, secure, scalable and capable of supporting the evolving needs of the business.
• Optimize technology investment, capacity and resources across strategic transformation and business-as-usual priorities.
• Drive disciplined portfolio management and governance, providing transparency around investment, delivery, performance, risk and value realization.
• Identify opportunities to simplify the technology landscape, consolidate capabilities and improve cost efficiency without compromising business delivery.
• Ensure technology risk, cyber security, operational resilience and regulatory requirements are embedded within technology strategy and execution.
• Engage confidently with Risk, Compliance, Audit and regulatory stakeholders, maintaining a strong culture of accountability and control.

Build a High-Performing Global Organization

• Lead and develop a large, globally distributed technology organization, creating clarity of purpose, accountability and decision rights across teams and geographies.
• Build a strong senior leadership team with the capability to manage complex portfolios, lead transformation and partner effectively with the business.
• Create an open and transparent leadership culture characterized by candid dialogue, constructive challenge and clear accountability.
• Invest in leadership development, succession and capability building, empowering leaders while holding them accountable for outcomes.
• Lead teams successfully through significant organizational and technology change, maintaining engagement, stability and delivery performance.
• Build effective partnerships across business, technology and corporate functions, breaking down organizational boundaries to achieve enterprise outcomes.

About You

You are a global technology executive with a track record of leading complex technology organizations and transformation at significant scale.

You combine strategic vision with strong operational and commercial judgment. You understand that technology transformation is not an objective in itself: successful transformation starts with understanding the business problem, determining where change creates value and executing with discipline.

Your experience has given you a strong understanding of operating within highly regulated financial services environments, where innovation and speed must be balanced with resilience, risk management and regulatory expectations.

You are equally comfortable discussing business strategy with senior executives, challenging technology investment decisions, navigating regulatory requirements and engaging with technology leaders on engineering, architecture and delivery.

As a leader, you create structure and transparency in complex environments. You set clear expectations and provide candid feedback while giving leaders the trust and space to succeed. You are passionate about developing people and building leadership capability that extends beyond your own organization.

You bring an international perspective and have demonstrated the ability to lead successfully across geographies, cultures and organizational boundaries.

Experience & Capabilities

• Extensive senior executive experience in technology, digital or engineering leadership within large, complex global organizations.
• Significant experience within reinsurance, insurance, banking or broader financial services, including operating within highly regulated environments.
• Proven accountability for large-scale global technology organizations, complex application landscapes and significant technology investment portfolios.
• Experience owning technology end-to-end for a major business, business unit or portfolio, with clear accountability for strategy, delivery, operations and transformation.
• A strong record of leading complex technology and organizational transformation, with demonstrable improvements in business performance, efficiency, resilience or cost.
• Experience modernizing engineering practices, technology platforms and delivery models within established global organizations.
• Strong commercial and financial management capabilities, including technology investment prioritization, vendor management, sourcing and cost optimization.
• Experience designing or transforming technology operating models, including organizational structure, location strategy and global delivery capabilities.
• Strong understanding of technology risk, regulatory compliance, operational resilience and control environments.
• Experience leading and developing substantial global teams through periods of organizational and technological change.
• Executive presence and the ability to influence, challenge and build trusted relationships with senior business and technology stakeholders.

Additional Experience That Would Be Valuable

• Direct leadership experience within Property & Casualty insurance or reinsurance.
• Experience applying AI, Generative AI, data, analytics and automation at enterprise scale.
• Experience establishing or expanding global technology hubs and engineering capabilities.
• Experience contributing to enterprise-wide technology capabilities and platforms beyond a single business or functional domain.
• Experience leading major regulatory or compliance-driven technology programs across multiple jurisdictions.
• Strong understanding of cloud, modern architecture and contemporary engineering methodologies.
