Head Cook – Eagle Cafe at Lincoln Academy

Hours: 8:25 AM – 2:00 PM (Monday–Friday)

Location: Lincoln Academy – Eagle Cafe

Position Type: Part-Time (No night shifts, no weekends!)

Start Date: As soon as possible

About the Role

If you have experience working in fast food or high-volume kitchens, you already have the speed, multi-tasking skills, and hustle needed to excel here!

At the Eagle Cafe, we feed hundreds of students every day across tight meal windows. It’s fast-paced, high-energy work—very similar to a lunch rush in fast food—but with consistent daytime hours, a predictable schedule, and a supportive, tight-knit team that has your back.

We are looking for a dependable Head Cook to lead our kitchen line preparation, recipe execution, and student service. You finish early in the afternoon, enjoy lunch with the team, and leave work knowing you made a real difference for our kids.

What You’ll Be Doing Day-to-Day

  • 8:25 AM Arrival & Daily Assessment: Walk the kitchen, assess thawed foods, review order sheets, and start with items requiring the longest cook time.
  • Batch Cooking & Planning: Follow standardized recipes to cook lunch items for K–9th grade students and staff while calculating proper portion quantities.
  • Serving Line Energy: Set up heating stations, double-check food temperatures, and serve students quickly on the line while giving them a friendly, welcoming environment.
  • Thawing & Inventory (FIFO): Maintain proper food rotation (First In, First Out), label leftovers, and prepare ingredients for the next day's menu.
  • Kitchen Clean-up & Team Finish: Clean work surfaces, maintain sanitation standards, operate floor equipment (meet "Earl" our floor scrubber!), and jump in to help teammates finish dishes or kitchen prep so everyone wraps up together.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • Supportive Environment: We strictly enforce a positive workplace. No screaming, no toxic stress—just teamwork, open communication, and management that stepped in to support you when challenges arise.
  • Predictable Hours: Work 8:25 AM – 2:00 PM. Enjoy weekends, evenings, and school holidays off!
  • Team Camaraderie: When individual tasks are finished, we help each other out and sit down together for lunch before heading home.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: Fast food, line cook, or institutional kitchen experience is a huge plus! You know how to move fast under time constraints.
  • Certifications: Current Food Handler Permit (or ability to obtain one).
  • Skills: Ability to adjust recipe quantities, organize prep order, and follow food safety/HACCP guidelines.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand throughout the shift, bend/twist, and occasionally lift up to 70 lbs (milk boxes, canned goods, frozen food containers).
  • Attitude: Dependable, punctual, respectful, and ready to contribute to a positive culture for our kids and staff.

Ready to Join the Team?

If you thrive in a fast-paced environment but want better hours and a team environment that truly respects you, apply today to join the Eagle Cafe!

Qualifications: Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma GED, or equivalent preferred.

Machines, Tools, and Equipment Used
