Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor adherence to the Group’s set standards regarding reconciliation of Nostro, other assets and liabilities suspense accounts and ensure that accuracy and integrity of the accounts is maintained.
  • Monitor, escalate and ensure correction of outstanding items in reconciled accounts for KCB Kenya and the Subsidiaries.
  • Monitor all settlement accounts while ensuring that all the accounts are reconciled against respective statement and ledger balances. Oversee the automation and centralization of reconciliation for new products.
  • Continuous review of compliance and enhance efficiency to attain excellence in operational processes and ensure regular validation of first level controls in operational processes
  • Work with Internal Audit to identify the key risk parameters for consideration during audit planning, to ensure the monitoring and resolution, within agreed timeframe, of all audit exceptions and develop / manage the divisions Quality Assurance.
  • Identify and mitigate events exposing the Bank to risk due to inadequate or failed processes, people, and systems. Oversight over risk reporting, DORCCO and escalation of issues to GORCCO.
  • Apply test processes and tools to substantiate and measure the effectiveness of operational risk controls.
  • Ensure continuous transaction verification and monitoring is carried out, establishing predictable quality assurance processes, which include automation and testing tools to aid effectiveness.
  • Provide assurance to ensure controls are adequately designed, implemented and effective, manage assurance and monitoring arrangement.
  • CMT coordination and carry out reviews to ensure comprehensive Operational Business Continuity Management (BCM) Testing & Business Impact Analysis (BIA)/Plans.

EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Risk Management or a business related field. Master's Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • Thorough understanding of Banking Law, Prudential Guidelines, Central Bank regulations and operational risk management frameworks.
  • Professional qualification such as CPA(K), ACCA, CIA, CISA or equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum ten (10) years' experience in Banking Operations, Shared Services, Finance, Controls, Governance or Risk Management, with at least six (6) years in a senior management role.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing governance, risk management and internal control frameworks within a complex banking environment.
  • Extensive experience in operational risk identification, control testing, issue remediation, loss prevention and regulatory compliance management.
  • Strong track record in leading audit engagements, regulatory reviews and timely closure of audit and compliance findings.
  • Experience driving process improvement, reconciliation automation, operational excellence and transformation initiatives across multi-entity banking operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, manage performance, develop talent and influence stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Technology, Risk, Compliance and Subsidiaries.
  • Strong understanding of banking operations, payment systems, customer service, business continuity management, operational resilience and emerging industry risks and trends
