Wheeling University is welcoming applicants for the Head Coach position for the Women’s Lacrosse team. The Head Coach is responsible for the administration, development, and leadership of a competitive NCAA Division II women's lacrosse program. This position oversees all aspects of the program, including coaching, student-athlete development, recruiting, graduate assistant supervision, academic success initiatives, program administration, and compliance with NCAA, conference, and University regulations.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage all aspects of the women's lacrosse program, including strategic planning, team culture, and competitive success.
- Represent the University and athletic department in a professional manner consistent with institutional values.
- Plan and conduct practices, training sessions, and competitions.
- Develop student-athletes athletically, academically, and personally while promoting sportsmanship and leadership.
- Monitor academic progress and support student-athlete success and NCAA eligibility.
- Lead recruiting efforts to attract and retain qualified student-athletes in accordance with NCAA, conference, and University regulations.
- Evaluate prospective student-athletes for athletic and academic fit.
- Supervise and develop Graduate Assistants and other assigned personnel.
- Provide training, direction, and performance feedback.
- Manage program operations, including budgeting, scheduling, travel, equipment, and game preparation.
- Ensure compliance with all NCAA, conference, and University policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with athletic department staff to support program promotion, student-athlete welfare, and operational success.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree is required
- Three years’ experience as a collegiate assistant coach is required. Experience as a head coach and player is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop student-athletes.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the academic success and personal development of student-athletes.
- Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all relevant rules and regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be legally authorized to work in the United States. The University is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position at this time.
