Position Purpose:  Lead and sustain a competitive interscholastic and club rowing program. Working in partnership with the other Head Coach, this position oversees a staff of 4–6 Assistant Coaches and approximately 140 student-athletes in grades 6–12. The Head Coach fosters a positive, high-performing team culture while supporting the athletic, personal, and academic development of student-athletes. This is a 12-month, full-time position.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university required
- Prior success as a competitive rower at the club or collegiate level desired
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, families, and colleagues through effective communication, professionalism, and a student-centered coaching philosophy.
- Passion for rowing and a commitment to helping student-athletes reach their full potential.
- Experience with independent school programs and adolescents preferred
- U.S. Rowing Level I or II Certification or higher preferred; be a member in good standing of U.S. Rowing
- Knowledge of FHSAA rules and regulations preferred
- Professional behaviors consistent with U.S. Rowing and FHSAA Regulations
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Knowledge of rowing instruction, physical conditioning, and current coaching methodologies.
- Minimum five years of leadership and rowing coaching experience
- Must possess or be willing to obtain and maintain a Florida Driver’s and Boating license

Essential Functions:
- Lead all aspects of the scholastic and club rowing programs, including planning, scheduling, practices, regattas, off-season training, camps, and youth rowing initiatives in partnership with the other Head Coach.
- Supervise athletes during practices and regattas, including general warm-up, race preparation and race analysis
- Develop and implement seasonal training plans, assign workouts, teach rowing technique and safety, assess athlete development, and provide timely feedback.
- Teaches rules of rowing and boathouse protocol
- Foster a positive, disciplined, and inclusive team culture while mentoring Assistant Coaches and supporting the development of student-athletes.
- Maintain a safe rowing environment by enforcing safety protocols, training coaches and athletes, and overseeing boathouse and on-water operations.
- Advise and counsel rowers who wish to pursue junior development opportunities and/or collegiate competition, including writing letters of recommendation, if requested
- In partnership with the other Head Coach, develop and sustain a youth rowing program, separate from the scholastic rowing program
- Co-manage the physical operation, maintenance and inventory of the waterfront facilities--- boathouse, docks and equipment at our state-of-the-art boathouse and crew complex
- Oversee program administration, including scheduling, travel, budgeting, billing, special events, marketing support, and collaboration with school administration and parent leadership.
- Manage special events related to Crew; coordinate the seasonal athletic awards assembly
- In partnership with Marketing, provide input in preparation and dissemination of publicity to promote events
- Work with Administration, parent leadership, and committees to manage and grow the program
- Ensure compliance with all applicable USRowing, Florida Scholastic Rowing Association, FHSAA, and Bolles School policies and regulations.
- Responsible for the selection, supervision, and evaluation of Assistant Coaches supporting the rowing program
