Head Chef Opportunity in Halifax

We are recruiting for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead a busy, award-winning kitchen in Halifax.

This is an excellent opportunity for a creative and hands-on Head Chef who enjoys working with fresh, seasonal produce in a high-quality gastro pub environment. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the kitchen operation, leading the team while maintaining exceptional standards across food quality, service, hygiene, and kitchen management.

The role suits a strong kitchen leader who can balance creativity with operational efficiency while developing a motivated and professional brigade.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire, and develop the kitchen team
  • Create and deliver seasonal menus using fresh, locally sourced ingredients
  • Maintain consistently high food standards during service
  • Manage stock control, ordering, GP margins, and supplier relationships
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and health & safety regulations
  • Recruit, train, and mentor chefs and kitchen staff
  • Work closely with front-of-house management to deliver an excellent guest experience
  • Manage rotas and labour costs effectively
  • Drive creativity while maintaining kitchen efficiency and profitability

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef within a gastro pub, boutique hotel, or fresh food restaurant
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Passion for seasonal British cuisine and quality ingredients
  • Experience managing kitchen finances, stock, and labour costs
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • Calm and professional approach under pressure
  • Hands-on leadership style with high personal standards
  • Food Safety Level 3 qualification preferred
