Position Title: Head Chef / Executive Chef

Our client, a prominent grocery retailer in Grand Cayman, is seeking a dynamic Head Chef / Executive Chef with extensive experience in grocery retail culinary operations This strategic and hands-on role oversees all aspects of the store’s prepared foods, bakery, deli, and hot bar offerings. The Head Chef will drive menu innovation, quality, and efficiency, while managing budgets, leading the culinary team, and ensuring compliance with food safety and retail standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused retail environment and can balance creativity with operational excellence.
Develop, plan, and execute innovative, high-quality menus for prepared foods, deli, and bakery items, aligned with customer preferences and sales goals.
Lead, train, and inspire a team of kitchen and production staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and culinary excellence.
Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to recipes and presentation standards for retail and catering services.
Establish and maintain strong inventory controls, vendor relationships, and food cost management to optimize profitability.
Enforce all food safety, sanitation, and compliance standards required for grocery retail operations, ensuring audit readiness.
Manage scheduling, labor costs, and performance evaluations for all culinary staff.
Partner with management to support strategic initiatives, including seasonal promotions, special events, and sales-driving initiatives
Champion continuous improvement by introducing new products, improving efficiencies, and driving customer satisfaction.
Culinary degree or professional certification preferred.
5–10 years of progressive kitchen leadership experience, with at least 3 years in a grocery retail, prepared foods, or large-scale food production environment
Proven track record in menu development, cost control, and leading high-performing teams in a retail or high-volume setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
