Located in Harlow, The Green Man is a charming, historic Chef & Brewer pub, combining traditional character with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. With a menu full of classic pub favourites and seasonal specials, we’re all about serving quality food that keeps our guests coming back.

As our Head Chef, you’ll have the opportunity to put your stamp on the kitchen, inspire your team and create an experience our guests will love.

Job Description

What you’ll be doing

• Lead from the front: Inspire, motivate and develop your kitchen team, creating a positive environment where everyone can thrive.
• Bring great food to the table: Deliver delicious dishes to a consistently high standard, ensuring every plate reflects our passion for quality.
• Own your kitchen: Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, keeping service smooth, organised and efficient.
• Make the numbers count: Manage stock, food costs, waste and labour to drive performance and profitability.
• Keep standards high: Take pride in food safety, hygiene and compliance, ensuring your kitchen is always operating at its best.
• Grow your people: Coach your team, build confidence and help everyone reach their potential.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

• Experience as a Head Chef, or a strong Sous Chef ready to step up.
• A genuine passion for great food and delivering consistently high standards.
• The ability to lead, motivate and develop a kitchen team.
• Strong organisation and the confidence to manage a busy service.
• An understanding of food costs, stock control, labour management and kitchen profitability.
• A proactive approach to food safety, hygiene and continuous improvement.

Most importantly, you’ll bring energy, ambition and a genuine love for hospitality.
