Job Description
Reporting to the Grocery Manager, the Head Cashier is responsible for providing leadership to all front-end employees, delivering world-class customer service, operating cash registers, and taking payment from customers. Responsibilities also include assisting with merchandising and displaying packaged products and maintaining cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
Qualifications Candidate must have 3-5 years of experience in a retail environment and possess a minimum of 1 year of previous supervisory experience. Applicants must demonstrate effective leadership skills and the ability to work well within multi-generational teams. Candidates should be self-reliant, goal-oriented and have the ability to learn new skills quickly and to set and adjust priorities and schedules.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Knowledge POS systems, cashier procedures, duties related to customer transactions, cash handling, and service desk
- Prepare work schedules within an Advanced Scheduling System
- Tech Savvy, with the ability to adapt to new technology
- Attention to detail
- High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
- Superior mentoring skills and a demonstrated ability to foster engagement, challenge and stretch Team Members in meaningful ways, and support in building a strong, agile team
- Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on employee engagement
- High level of integrity and work ethic
- Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Manages complexity by making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
- Participate in the Corporate Performance Cycle and the Talent Management Processes and Cycle as assigned
Availability: Full availability, days required, evenings required and weekends required.
