Head Cashier

Head Cashier coordinate, manage and oversee the administrative and operational activities of the cashier department.

As a department manager, you’ll have the following responsibilities:

  • Promote the store’s strategy and vision to achieve corporate objectives

  • Support the management team and supervise your staff to keep your department clean and ready for business

  • Make sure your team is focused on delivering exceptional customer service and building customer loyalty

  • Develop and strengthen cashier team skills by coaching employees on excellent customer service, effective point-of-sale selling techniques, and the proper use of company programs and tools.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and propose creative initiatives to enhance the checkout experience, improve operational efficiency, and drive additional sales at the cash register.

  • Communicate effectively to provide the information needed to support operations.

  • Train employees and make sure they’re applying the different BMR programs.

  • Promote and maintain a safe, healthy workplace by enforcing established protocols.

  • Perform other duties as assigned and determined by the supervisor.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Results-driven, with a focus on customer service

  • Talent for engaging and motivating employees

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills

  • Ability to delegate, inform and manage priorities

  • Good problem-solving skills

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a cashier

  • Management experience (an asset)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Experience with retail computer systems (an asset)
