The Waukesha County Park System is seeking dedicated and organized individual to join our team as a Golf Course Clubhouse Attendant

The ideal candidate will assist the Clubhouse Supervisor with overseeing the daily operations of the golf course and clubhouse. Responsibilities include training, supervising, and evaluating golf course operational staff, preparing work schedules, enforcing employee handbook and staff rules, monitoring the golf calendar for leagues and events, supervising golf cart operations, and ensuring a quality golfing experience for all customers.

This is a limited term position available from ~April though ~November. When the term is over, it is considered a voluntary resignation.

CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION

Example of Duties:

  • Train, supervise, and evaluate golf course operational staff.
  • Prepare work schedules based on policies and budget.
  • Enforce employee handbook and staff rules.
  • Monitor golf calendar for leagues, outings, and events.
  • Supervise operation, scheduling, and cleanliness of golf carts.
  • Ensure quality round and golfing experience for customers.
  • Oversee WSGA Handicap system for leagues and general play.
  • Assist in recruitment, education, and promotion of Junior Golf programs.
  • Prepare daily cash reports and reconcile transactions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of golf course buildings and surrounding areas.
  • Make decisions on playability or cart usage in absence of Clubhouse Supervisor or Golf Course Superintendent.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Oversee inventory and merchandising of pro shop stock and food and beverage inventory.
  • Assist in social networking, website maintenance, and promotion of golf courses.
  • Assist and staff Moor Downs Golf Course when needed.
  • Monitor on-course amenities and pace of play.
  • Ensure yardage markers, hazard stakes, and play amenities adhere to golf rules.

Minimum Qualifications:

Essential Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the rules of golf, golf course etiquette, inventory merchandising, and food and beverage service.
  • Working knowledge of the golf and hospitality industry.
  • Working knowledge of golf rules and etiquette
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including providing excellent customer service.
  • Ability to provide, and follow, oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to safely operate tools and equipment necessary to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working and public relations with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds, and persons of all ages and lifestyles.
  • Ability to manage crowds.
  • Ability to accurately count and handle money and operate a cash register.
  • Ability to withstand exposure to variable and unfavorable weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push/pull, and lift up to 50 lbs, on a frequent basis.

You must meet these Minimum Training and Experience requirements:

  • 18 years of age
  • 8th grade education.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Some recent supervisory work experience

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in golf course operations or related field.
  • Cash handling and customer service work experience.
  • Golf Instruction.
  • Safe food handling, CPR, and First Aid certification.
