
The Product Cost Out Manager serves as the critical bridge between the Sourcing organization and the Engineering/Product Design teams. You will be responsible for driving structural cost reduction across the product lifecycle. This role requires a blend of technical product knowledge, supply chain expertise, and cross-functional leadership to identify, validate, and execute cost-out opportunities that improve product margins without compromising quality or performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Cross-Functional Strategy: Partner with Engineering, and Commodity teams to integrate cost control principles into product/project development.
• Ideation & Pipeline Management: Lead cross-functional workshops to generate cost-reduction ideas, including material substitution, design simplification, and manufacturing process improvements.
• Execution Leadership: Manage the end-to-end execution of cost-out projects. Track progress, mitigate risks, and ensure that savings are realized and validated through the P&L.
• Should-Cost Modeling: Utilize "Should-Cost" modeling team to establish target costs for components and assemblies, providing data-backed insights during negotiations and design reviews.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Monitor and report on cost-out performance metrics (e.g., project pipeline value, realized savings, and margin improvement). Maintain a robust dashboard to track project status and savings realization.
• Supplier Collaboration: Work with the Sourcing team to engage key suppliers in value engineering (VE) initiatives, leveraging their technical expertise to reduce manufacturing costs.
• Continuous Improvement: Develop and standardize the cost-out process, ensuring consistent methodologies for opportunity identification and financial validation.
Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Business, or a related discipline; or significant equivalent experience in sourcing, manufacturing engineering, value engineering, product costing or procurement.
• Experience: 5–8+ years of experience in product costing, value engineering, procurement, or product design.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., Forgings, machining, investment casting, fabrication and integrations).
• Communication Skills: Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, particularly in resolving technical disagreements between design requirements and cost constraints.
• Analytical Skills: Strong financial acumen; ability to translate technical design changes into tangible P&L impacts.
• Project Management: Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects with strict timelines and financial targets.
Success Metrics
• Total annualized savings realized through cost-out projects.
• Project pipeline health (number of ideas in ideation vs. validation vs. execution).
• Accuracy of cost-reduction forecasting.
Desired Characteristics
• Master’s Degree in a Technical or Business discipline
• 8+ years of Sourcing Experience for Power Generation products; preferably with a focus on plant equipment accessories (MSD, BOP, HRSG)
• Lean tool set (A3, VSM, Problem Solving)

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $125,000.00 and $208,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
