Job Description

As HDGT New Units business line secures equipment slots years ahead of contract and delivery, the cost exposure that comes with it demands a proactive strategy. This is a senior role for someone who can turn cost intelligence into business decisions and drive cost visibility & cost-out accountability across a multi-billion dollar backlog.

What impact you'll make:

You will directly influence the margin performance of one of GE Vernova's most strategically important businesses. By building visibility into cost firmness, identifying structural cost-out opportunities, and creating operating cadences that hold the organization accountable, you will help protect and improve profitability across a multi-year order book at scale.

What you'll do:

Cost Risk & Firmness

  • Develop a comprehensive view of cost exposure across the HDGT — distinguishing between costs secured under long-term agreements with firm costs and those subject to market risk
  • Translate cost firmness analysis into actionable risk provisions , enabling leadership to make confident underwriting and commercial decisions on long-dated orders. Create ability to forecast areas of cost pressure with identification of mitigating strategies
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Commercial teams to define strategies for managing uncontrolled cost categories, including scope, commodity exposure, and logistics
  • Enhance quality/ accuracy of Quarterly escalation adders used to forecast future cost projection

Backlog Cost Strategy

  • Build and own a structured, multi-year view of HDGT cost backlog, decomposed by category and ranked by margin impact.
  • Identify cost-out opportunities by segment and develop executable strategies in partnership with Supply Chain, Engineering, Pivot to Value, and Logistics
  • Establish and drive a monthly cross-functional operating cadence with clear owners, milestones, and measurable targets — creating a path to tangible and sustained cost productivity

Cost Analytics & Business Intelligence

  • Develop and validate forward-looking cost hypothesis — including the relationship between input cost trends and offsetting operational improvements — to sharpen the accuracy of long-range financial planning
  • Build an analytics capability that transforms raw cost data into decision-ready insights for senior leadership eg adoption of standards across MSD scopes
  • Identify leading indicators of cost risk and opportunity, enabling proactive rather than reactive management

Strategic Influence

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to HDGT Operations and Commercial leadership on cost strategy and competitiveness
  • Synthesize complex, multi-variable cost dynamics into clear executive communications and recommendations
  • Drive alignment across functions on cost priorities, ensuring cost strategy is reflected in product, sourcing, and commercial decisions

What you'll bring (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience in Operations, Supply Chain, Strategy, or Commercial Finance within a large industrial or energy business
  • Demonstrated track record of building strategic frameworks that drive measurable business outcomes
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to move fluidly between detailed data and high-level strategic narrative
  • Proven ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across multiple functions without direct authority
  • Fluent English required

What will make you stand out

  • Experience working across the full commercial and operational lifecycle — from order intake through execution — within a capital equipment or power generation business
  • Familiarity with cost structures, supply chain economics, and margin dynamics in a large-scale industrial business
  • Demonstrated ability to design, own, and sustain operating rhythms that drive cross-functional accountability
  • Experience building analytics capabilities or business intelligence infrastructure in a complex organization
  • Strong executive communication skills — written, verbal, and visual
  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and building structure where little exists
