Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel Position Description

POSITION TITLE: Engineering Technician Level I

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

GRADE/FLSA STATUS: H14 – Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Engineering Supervisor

BADGE TYPE/COLOR: Work Permit--Peach

SUPERVISES: N/A

Perform maintenance and repair of all facilities and equipment to assure a continuous source of light, heat, water, electrical power and temperature control and recommend necessary changes in such facilities or equipment. Provide support to all departments as directed by department manager.

JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC, lighting, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems

  2. Maintain records of maintenance and repairs using computerized maintenance programs

  3. Abide by safety policies and report safety hazards to department manager

  4. Participative member of the team by volunteering and being involved in projects, committees, and task forces by providing input and suggestions

  5. Respond to emergency and critical situations

  6. Adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies/procedures in an ethical manner

  7. Endorse the business objectives, ethics and values of Caesars Entertainment in accordance with the Code of Commitment and Mission, Vision and Values

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school or GED required

  2. Three years technical experience in industrial, commercial, institutional, automotive, or construction environment or Associates Degree (technical) or trade diploma in a technical field from an accredited educational institution and one year experience in technical maintenance required

  3. Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record required

  4. Must demonstrate the following essential knowledge and skills:

  5. Basic understanding of electrical distribution systems, three phase and single phase, up to 600 volts

  6. Basic understanding of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, (HVAC), operation to include basic theory of operation and controls

  7. Ability to use basic test equipment including, but not limited to, multi-meters, temperature probes, and circuit tracers

  8. Neat, professional appearance with excellent personal hygiene

  9. Ability to work independently

  10. Documented teamwork behaviors and attitudes

  1. Strong interpersonal skills

  2. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  1. Must be physically mobile with reasonable accommodations
  2. Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the casino and surrounding property
  3. Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items

  4. Must possess coordination and dexterity to work with hand and power tools

  5. Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs

  6. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues

  7. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

  8. Must be able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations

  9. Must be able to tolerate areas containing varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibration, crowds, and air quality including second hand smoke
  10. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays
