Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort Position Description

POSITION TITLE: Engineering Technician Level II - HVAC

DEPARTMENT: Engineering

GRADE/FLSA STATUS: H15 – Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Building Systems Supervisor

BADGE TYPE/COLOR: Key--Blue

SUPERVISES: N/A

Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical and HVAC equipment including, boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, piping systems, air handlers, balers, compactors and other components.

JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Endorse the business objectives, ethics and values of Caesars Entertainment in accordance with the Code of Commitment and Mission, Vision and Values
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC and refrigeration equipment and related systems
  • Maintain records of maintenance and repairs using computerized maintenance programs
  • Install new equipment and services as required
  • Assist in fabrication of systems and components
  • Weld, solder and braze, as required
  • Assist with maintenance, repairs and operation of the Casino and Hotel facilities, building systems and equipment
  • Abide by safety policies and report safety hazards to department manager
  • Participative member of the team by volunteering and being involved in projects, committees, and task forces by providing input and suggestions
  • Respond to emergency and critical situations
  • Troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic control systems
  • Adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies/procedures in an ethical manner

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associates Degree (Technical) or Trade Diploma in HVAC from an accredited educational institution required or four years mechanical maintenance experience performing PM’s, troubleshooting and repairs in a commercial, industrial or institutional facility on pumps, piping systems, air handlers, boilers, balers, etc. or military experience as AC/HVAC technician required
  • Three years’ experience as a technician, mechanic or journeyman required
  • Valid driver’s license with no suspended, denied, or revoked driver’s license within the last 3 years required
  • Must demonstrate the following essential knowledge and skills:
  • Knowledgeable and competent with Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Understanding of electrical distribution systems, three phase and single phase, up to 600 volts
  • Strong knowledge of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, (HVAC), operation to include basic theory of operation and control systems and capability of maintaining plant operations
  • Understanding of electrical distribution systems, three phase and single phase, up to 600 volts
  • Ability to use test equipment including, but not limited to, multi-meters, temperature probes, and circuit tracers
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and diagrams
  • Ability to use technical manuals to diagnose and repair equipment
  • Neat, professional appearance with excellent personal hygiene
  • Ability to work independently
  • Documented teamwork behaviors and attitudes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be physically mobile with reasonable accommodations
  • Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the casino and surrounding property
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
  • Must possess coordination and dexterity to work with hand and power tools
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Must be able to operate in mentally and physically stressful situations
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibration, crowds, and air quality including secondhand smoke
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays
