Community-Based Therapist – Multisystemic Therapy (MST)
Position Overview
Second Chances Comprehensive Services is seeking compassionate and dedicated MST Therapists to serve families in the Hampton Roads area. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about working with youth and families and are committed to creating lasting, strength-based behavioral change.
MST is an evidence-based treatment model with proven success in addressing serious behavioral concerns, including delinquency and substance use. Therapists work collaboratively with families, schools, and community partners to support youth ages 12–17.
This is a team-oriented position offering ongoing training, supervision, and support, with a manageable caseload to ensure quality care and work-life balance.
Preferred Experience
Licensure or license-eligible status (LPC, LMFT, LCSW preferred, but not required)
Experience with family therapy models (structural, strategic, functional)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) experience with youth and adults
Couples or family-based behavioral therapy experience
Experience providing community-based or in-home services
Ability to implement interventions across multiple systems (family, school, peers, community)
Strong collaboration skills with community agencies
Qualifications
Master's degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required
Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
Ability to travel within a 30–45 minute radius of the service area
Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in weekly case planning, supervision, and team consultations
Provide intensive, home- and community-based clinical services using the MST model
Conduct comprehensive assessments of youth, families, and their ecological systems
Develop and implement individualized, strength-based treatment plans
Engage caregivers and family systems in meaningful behavior change
Collaborate with schools, probation officers, child welfare, and other stakeholders
Maintain accurate documentation and track treatment progress
Support team members and provide coverage as needed to promote work-life balance
Participate in ongoing training and professional development
