Amatriot Group is seeking a highly motivated Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Technician / Calibration Coordinator to support the Electro-Optic Technology Division at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane. This position serves as the Division's primary coordinator for hazardous material and hazardous waste management activities while also supporting calibration management of Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Department of Defense, Navy, and NSWC Crane regulations related to hazardous materials, hazardous waste, and calibration programs. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, technical aptitude, and the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and facilities.

This position requires frequent movement throughout the NSWC Crane campus and interaction with engineers, technicians, calibration laboratories, environmental personnel, and government leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the dedicated Hazardous Material (HM) and Hazardous Waste Coordinator for the Electro-Optic Technology Division.
  • Assist with hazardous material procurement and identify safe, efficient products and sourcing channels.
  • Maintain compliance with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements.
  • Ensure proper labeling of hazardous materials, including secondary containers.
  • Maintain hazardous material storage areas and lockers in accordance with SDS requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Verify all hazardous materials are listed on Crane's Authorized Usage List (AUL).
  • Maintain accurate inventories of hazardous materials, including quantities, storage locations, and consumption records.
  • Conduct monthly inventory inspections and reporting activities.
  • Ensure emergency contact information and ownership documentation are posted on hazardous material storage lockers.
  • Coordinate with the NSWC Crane Fire Department regarding placement, relocation, and management of hazardous material storage lockers.
  • Ensure hazardous materials are stored with compatible substances and within approved storage conditions.
  • Remove and coordinate disposal of expired hazardous materials.
  • Respond appropriately to spills, non-conforming materials, and hazardous material incidents.
  • Assist with hazardous waste disposition activities, including materials generated from demilitarization of electro-optic systems.
  • Support handling and disposition of:
    • Demilitarized Image Intensifier Tubes
    • Demilitarized Laser Debris containing Beryllium
  • Complete required annual hazardous material and hazardous waste training.
  • Develop and maintain Division Instructions (DI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI), desk guides, and related documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance or Interim Secret Clearance required prior to start.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in hazardous materials management, calibration coordination, logistics, maintenance support, environmental compliance, technical operations, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of hazardous material handling, storage, transportation, and disposal requirements.
  • Basic understanding of calibration processes and Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and equipment data sheets.
  • Ability to compile technical information and complete Calibration Measurement Requirement Summary (CMRS) documentation.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to operate government vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Navy, or federal government programs.
  • Experience with hazardous waste management and environmental compliance programs.
  • Familiarity with calibration laboratories and calibration management systems.
  • Experience with MCMS, SAVOR, CAMS, or similar asset management and tracking systems.
  • Experience developing technical procedures, SOPs, and work instructions.
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, Electronics, Industrial Technology, or related field.
