Job Description

KOMAN Eco Services, LLC (KOMAN Eco) is an SBA certified 8(a) Alaska Native Company dedicated to advancing sustainability and environmental stewardship through environmental compliance, environmental design and investigation, and facility maintenance support services.

We are looking to place Environmental Technicians on site at Joint Base Lewis McChord Tacoma, Washington, for the hazardous waste program. Starting hourly rate of $30.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management of hazardous waste labeling, collection, storage, and transportation
  • Expertise using Enterprise, Environmental, Safety, Occupational Health- Management Information System (EESOH-MIS) or similar program for tracking hazardous waste, approving processes, preparing shipments, data pulls and ad-hoc reporting
  • Assist with compilation of monthly report of office activities
  • Customer support including answering phones and emails
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs & other databases.
  • Customer service focused, work independently around a team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 years relevant experience preferred
  • Able to maneuver 55-gallon drums with support of drum lifts.
  • Must hold a valid, active Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issued by the state of residence.
  • HAZMAT endorsement preferred
  • Current 40-hr HAZWOPER or ability to obtain once hired
  • Knowledgeable of the procedures and precautions necessary for moving, handling, packaging, and shipping of hazardous waste (HW)
  • Working knowledge of Federal environmental statutes and State-specific regulations pertaining to HW and hazardous materials
  • Familiarity with OSHA, DoD, and Installation Storage, Handling, and Transportation regulations preferred
  • Ability to drive forklifts and operate warehouse tools and equipment (i.e. drum lifts, pallet jack, etc.)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and proficiency with MS Office applications (Word and Excel) is required
  • Individuals already possessing an adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) are preferred or the ability to successfully pass a federal agency background check is required
  • Fieldwork includes, but not limited to, outside weather conditions and walking on uneven terrain
