The Opportunity

Explore Limitless Possibilities

Are you ready to tackle some of the most complex and rewarding environmental health and safety challenges in the industry? Based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, you'll support clients across Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada, helping them manage hazardous materials, protect worker health, and create safer, healthier buildings and workplaces.

As a Hazardous Materials & Occupational Hygiene Technician, you'll join a collaborative team of occupational/industrial hygienists, EHS compliance professionals, environmental assessment specialists, and hazardous materials managers. You'll work in a flexible hybrid environment, with opportunities to travel to project sites and client locations throughout Atlantic Canada while contributing to projects that make communities healthier and safer.

Your Impact

  • Support clients in maintaining compliance with occupational health, safety, construction, and environmental regulations through field assessments, monitoring programs, and clear documentation.
  • Conduct building assessments for hazardous materials and designated substances, including asbestos, lead, and mould, collecting representative samples safely and accurately.
  • Provide on-site inspection and oversight during hazardous materials remediation projects, including contractor monitoring, air sampling, and site reporting to support regulatory compliance and best practices.
  • Perform occupational exposure assessments for chemical, biological, and physical hazards in diverse workplace environments, helping clients better understand and manage risk.
  • Carry out indoor air quality and potable/drinking water investigations, documenting conditions and contributing to practical, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Analyze airborne fibre samples and accurately interpret and report findings as part of asbestos and related hazardous materials assessment programs.
  • Prepare clear, technically sound reports and data summaries that support informed decision-making by clients and project teams.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients while promoting a strong health and safety culture in every aspect of your work.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • College diploma or university degree in occupational hygiene, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Consulting experience, or equivalent education and knowledge, in occupational hygiene, environmental science, construction, or a related field.
  • Understanding of occupational health and safety, construction, and environmental legislation in Nova Scotia and Canada, with the ability to apply regulatory requirements in the field.
  • Experience conducting hazardous materials surveys, asbestos abatement monitoring, mould assessments, lead assessments, or related investigations.
  • Strong data management capabilities and proficiency with Microsoft Excel for analysis of field and sampling data.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork activities involving ladders, equipment operation, and sample collection, with accommodations available where required.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in the field while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada, including occasional overnight stays and weekend work as required; valid driver's licence, access to transportation, and eligibility for Federal Reliability and/or Secret Clearance are considered assets.
