The Hazard Awareness and Warning Center (HAWC) is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and serves as a “hub” from which analysts detect and monitor hazard risks across the company’s service area and alert Functional Areas and internal partners to respond to any emerging threats to our communities, customers, coworkers and company infrastructure. The Hazard Safety Analysts perform real-time detection and monitoring of conditions by leveraging information from on-the-ground field teams, PG&E meteorology tool, live video and audio feeds, as well as databases, emergency alert systems and social media from CAL FIRE, the National Weather Service, local public safety authorities and other agencies and systems.

•Responsible for working in a 24x7 watch center environment that includes shift work

Job Responsibilities:

•Performs HAWC internal and external communications.

•Collaborates with internal teams to validate hazards and risks.

•Monitors for, detects and documents any occurrence of pre-identified hazards or threats to company/public safety and/or company assets/property.

•Provides situational awareness to company leadership and other Functional Areas and internal partners.

•Provides HAWC situational updates during group meetings and/or calls.

•Trains, mentors and on-boards new analysts.

•Executes fire prediction analysis, as needed.

•Executes special projects and/or initiatives

Qualifications

Minimum

• High school or GED diploma

• 4 years of job-related experience

Desired

• BA/BS in business, fire science, engineering or other related field

• Experience in a fast-paced operating/control center environment

• Experience in training others

• GIS experience

• Utility experience, preferably in electric, gas, or generation operations

• Experience working in a public safety agency

• ICS 100 – Introduction to the Incident Command System

• IS 230 - Fundamentals of Emergency Management

• S-190 - Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior

• S-290 - Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior
